What phone would you get?

I would say it's all personal preference, I love my iPhone 5 and couldn't do without it, I've been with Apple for 4 years now and it has never failed me/never had to send it back or had any problems with it, but I have friends that have the S3 which is pretty much exactly the same, just different operating system.

Just got mine a fortnight ago and it is gorgeous, fast and responsive, beautiful screen (to the point that I am actively checking webpages on it in a quiet moment, instead of only using it as a last resort as I did with my Sony X10 Mini Pro), plenty powerful and a damn sight better value than an S3. I paid £105 to get it for £15.50 a month with o2, though the £6-off a month may have ended. Or get it direct from Google for £240/£280, if you don't mind waiting.

 

I have a Galaxy Nexus, but my fiancee recently got the N4. Direct from Google it was £250 for the 8GB version. It's got one of the fastest chips currently on the market, the screen is lush and it's going to have all Android updates first. Plus it runs vanilla Android, so none of that TouchSenseBlurScape rubbish.

 

That would be the obvious first choice, IMO.

I know! Plus a load of Android ROMS. Mind you, I'm still on WinMo 6.5 because I have yet to find anything as good as FreeOFTE4PDA or a killer app that would persuade me to move to another OS.

 

However, AFAIK the HD2 won't run Windows 8 like the phone linked above.

That's true, certificates are an issue and the hardware is old. But the HD2 is a legend...
