newpersn Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Is it safe to run both WSUS and Sophos on the same box? This is a virtual box with 1vCPU and 2GB of ram. Always seems to run around 1.75gb of memory all the time
Michael Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Yes you can, I do this at many sites. 2GB of memory is low these days, so if your motherboard/virtual instance can support 4GB then I'd recommend you upgrade/update it ASAP. 1

OverWorked Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Another yes! I have a Hyper-V guest running Server 2008 R2, WSUS, Sophos EC, WDS and KMS. I give it dynamic memory and it takes about 3GB. WDS runs at an OK speed as well.

I cant give it anymore memory as its maxed out with the over vms. (This is a quad xenon with 12gb of ram. Shares with main dc, proxy, and few others)

My attempt to upgrade Sophos EC 5.0 to 5.2 just failed (installation succeeds but the Sophos EC service won't start. Possibly because Sophos uses SQL server 2008 and WSUS is using SQL Server 2012, both installed on the same server. I think I'm going to have to separate them - move Sophos EC to it's own server. Er.. and to topic: all my servers are like this, and I'm currently supporting 5 primary schools in London! Never been an issue.

Thanks. I fixed it eventually. It was related to my Windows account not having access to the SQL database after the upgrade. Had to apply solutions from 2 KB articles on Sophos website. SEC 5.2 and WSUS 3.2 running happily on same server again.
