Tesla Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 i think it's ligament damage... not been to doctors for diagnosis...they'll only prescribe meds and say to rest it anyway..
witch Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 i think it's ligament damage... not been to doctors for diagnosis...they'll only prescribe meds and say to rest it anyway.. You ought to go and get it checked out as it could be other things such as arthritis, or a bone spur etc. Perhaps you should have a CT or MRI scan to really get to the bottom of it
MrMat Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I've been dieting throughout October to drop a bit of bodyfat. It didn't go quite as well as i would have liked as got bored during 3rd and 4th week. Anywho, still managed to drop from 15stone 5lbs to 14stone 9lbs. More importantly though, now that the obligatory diet is out of the way, i can get back into 'bulking' 5 meals a day, 3500cals and plenty of lifting, woohoo!

Joanne Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 5 meals a day, 3500cals and plenty of lifting, woohoo! I love lifting. I can't do 5 proper meals though... too much prep!!!
MrMat Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) I love lifting. I can't do 5 proper meals though... too much prep!!! Yeah it's time consuming! But if you do it in big batches it's not too bad. Last night i cooked a hooooge sweet potato Cottage Pie, and a massive batch of homemade meaty stodge (mince meat, sausage meat, broccoli, cauli, carrot, baked beans, and rice in a casserole style sauce) which i'm currently chowing down on as speak! When i get home I'll cook tea and make enough for three rather than two, we'll have tea and the third portion will come to work with me tomorrow along with a portion of Pie or Stodge (I'm quite fortunate that work don't mind me having two meals throughout the day!). Combine that with a decent breakfast and two protein shakes and snacks through the day and that covers my 5 meals Edited November 3, 2014 by MrMat
Ghostgame Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Ever tried martial arts to lose weight? Something defiantly you could not call boring
featured_spectre Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 as my ex-PT said, I lack the discipline! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdbORXEmbnk 1
Joanne Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 OMG @nephilim that's exactly what I was thinking of when I typed it... didn't want to sound racist though 1

And me being unable to play football/Run is making me feel downright miserable.
Iain.Faulkner Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 forgot to post on this the other day :-) Had my WeightWatchers weigh in on Wednesday and lost a further 2lb's. Takes me to a total loss of 72.5lb's this time at WeightWatchers, into the 14 stone bracket and I'm now exactly 1 Stone away from a healthy BMI :-) 2

Tesla Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Hah, I'm pessimistic, I'm just expecting them to tell me to rest it (which i've already been doing). Maybe I'm just too cynical for my own good.
Zoom7000 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Well, I guess I'll post my story... I've been struggling with my weight for over 18 years, started piling it on pretty quickly when I was 16 years old working in my dad's newsagents. The boredom led to trying out each and every snack, chocolate bar, crisp and drink several times, over the course of 10 years before my dad sold up and retired. I obviously was stuck in the unhealthy lifestyle and despite desperately wanting to shift the weight, I could never budge it off. I'd try diet after diet, some things would work, but then I'd just get bored and annoyed and I'd just pile it all back on again. This summer, I had yet another very "unhealthy" holiday. Loads of junk, loads of eating out with mates. I took a look at myself in the mirror and as usual hated what I saw. I dunno what hit me, but I finally sat down and decided that enough was enough and THIS time I was gonna be serious and proper about losing weight. So, it started on September 1st, I stood on the scales and weighed in at 111kg. (17st 6.7lbs). From that day onwards, I decided, no more "dieting". It's time for a complete lifestyle change. Cold turkey completely. Out went my previous diet which looked similar to this: Breakfast: Crunchy Nut Cornflakes with Semi Skimmed Milk Break: Crisp, chocolate bar, can of Boost (Energy Drink) Lunch: Sandwich of some sort, with crisp, chocolate bar, dilute drink or water Early Evening Dinner/Tea: Homemade Indian Curry of some sort with maybe 4-5 chapattis or rice. Late evening snack: Crisp and chocolate bar or dessert (if any available - ice cream, cheesecake, ice lolly) Every Friday/Saturday evening: Go out with the lads to a restaurant or take away. Food would consist of either 16oz T-Bone Steak with chips, mixed sides, starters, lots of soft drink and then dessert, or a chicken burger or donner kebab both with chips. On some days, we'd do the whole lot! Sometimes even mid week with a different group of mates. And don't forget the family. Saturday/Sunday afternoons we'd have a take away burger and if the wife was feeling tired mid week, we'd order in a pizza. Yes, I know... It was bad! But anyway, that all went completely out of the window come September 1st. Now my daily diet looks something like this: Breakfast: Porridge or Oatabix with Skimmed Milk Break: Fruit Lunch: Left overs from yesterday's dinner (See below) Dinner: Usually a dish based around grilled chicken and spinach. We'll mix things up for variety, but it's usually consisting heavily of those 2 items. We design the dishes ourselves. 10 years worth of watching the cookery channel and sampling food from everywhere and anywhere gives us most of the ideas. Dessert: Dates and Fruit Water: I drink about 3-5 litres a day. Every Friday/Saturday evening: I still go out with my mates - But I sit there and talk and won't eat a morsel. If I'm thirsty, I'll have a glass of water. First weekend of the month: Cheat day. I can have whatever I want on this day. For the first month, I completely cut out carbs, now I'm starting to eat a few carbs here and there in the form of brown pitta and the occasional bread or similar, but everything is still very controlled. My main problem over all these years was lack of willpower. I just couldn't resist the temptation. I also had the floodgate problem. If someone gave me a crisp, I'd need to go and get myself a packet. If someone gave me a chunk of chocolate, I'd need to go out and get a bar of my own. If I had a chip, I'd need to get my own portion. I just couldn't do moderation. Now though, I have learnt to deal with all of that and so, 75 days in, I stood on the scales this morning weighing in at 98kg (15st 6lbs). So I've lost just over 2 stones. People have asked how long I will keep on "dieting". My answer to them is that my target is 75kg, but that doesn't mean I will stop after that. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Once I reach 75kg, I might relax a bit more and start going out with my mates more than just once a month, but I won't let myself fall back in to the trap of letting go again. I won't deny, it's not easy. It's not easy at all. You never get used to the food and you always crave the bad stuff. It's expensive being healthy and it's hard work as you have to cook fresh everyday, but in the end I guess it's all worth it. It's just about staying strong and having the willpower. 3
Hawkeyez Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I'm cheating.... Having been diagnosed (but suffered for over a year) with achalasia (progressive illness), I have lost 3 stone since August* and about 4 since January. Weight loss has now started to be level off to a more steady loss, rather than the dramatic last couple of months. Technically (from GP) I'm still "overweight" (37yr Male 12st), but losing muscle mass now rather than by beer gut! I do feel though, that once I can actually eat and drink normal post op, I have now a "good" platform to healthily to be at 12st. I'm now a 34" waist, not been that since I started in at 18years ago (was a 38" at start of year) Hawkeyez * Weight-loss not helped with losing father
tommej Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 @Zoom7000 Go You!!!!! The best part about changing your diet is that eventually you notice that the crap food you used to always eat makes you feel rotten! 1
Zoom7000 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 @Zoom7000 Go You!!!!! The best part about changing your diet is that eventually you notice that the crap food you used to always eat makes you feel rotten! Too right... I did a long post on Facebook after my first "cheat weekend"... Day 35: It's amazing what a difference a month can make. This time last month, I was polishing off my T-Bone steak with chips, having downed my 6 piece buffalo wing starter, to be followed by ice cream sundae all washed down with at least 3 cans of soft drink and then ending the evening with some more crisps and chocolate. I spent the whole of September craving another binge session of Me vs Food and when cheat day finally arrived, I was ready to take on the world starting with that ice cream sundae. 4 spoonfuls in, I started to feel rather sick. Not wanting to put a downer on my cheat day & the fact that I paid in excess of £7 for that mammoth beast of ice cream and chocolate madness, I persevered until I couldn't do anymore only because the ice cream had melted. When it came to the main meal and a quarter of the way through my chicken burger and chips drenced in chilli sauce and mayonnaise with the odd speck of yellow residue from the oil dripping off the carb laden fried potato, it dawned on me, that after putting my body through the torture of fat, oil and god knows what other crap for 16+ years, it's decided that after treating it right for 1 month, it's time to fight back. I don't need the daily can of Boost to keep me going through the day. I don't need the chocolate fix every break, after lunch and dinner. This weekend, I've actually missed the grilled chicken and that green stuff otherwise known as vegetables. I'm not saying I'll never eat another chocolate or never touch another chicken burger, but I've passed a big personal milestone, in that I know, that junk food isn't what defines me anymore and that I can do things in moderation without fear of the floodgates opening. I can and probably will crave something bad every now and then, but that doesn't mean I need to get that fix as soon as possible! It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change, and you know what, being healthy and knowing you are doing the right thing is a damn good feeling!
Tesla Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I hope they find out what it is quickly It's as i thought, they think it's an achilles injury. Told to rest it for 2 more weeks and dose up on painkillers/anti-inflammatries and putting stuff like deep freeze etc on it...
witch Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 It's as i thought, they think it's an achilles injury. Told to rest it for 2 more weeks and dose up on painkillers/anti-inflammatries and putting stuff like deep freeze etc on it... Well at least you know now. Achilles injuries take a long time to heal which at least explains why you have been having so much trouble. I have naturally very short achilles tendons- I used to struggle to put my feet flat on the floor first thing in the morning and I cannot crouch down with my heels on the floor. I have always been told to be very very careful as achilles injuries are the devil to heal. I know someone who tore theirs, was in a hip to ankle cast for 12 weeks and the day after the cast came off he stumbled down a couple of stairs and did it again So please give it time and be very careful
