[mdt] Change Administrator username?

Hi,

 

I've just found a script online to install SIMS but it requires the local user to have a matching user account on the network to access the SIMS file share.

 

Is there a way to change the default Administrator user to another username?

No. You can't change the built-in administrator account.

 

I'm a little confused as to what you're wanting to do though?

Just tried editing the xml file manually and it added a new user but it can only install using the administrator account and failed.

 

I have created a application in MDT that runs a script, the script then points to setup files in a folder share on the network. The problem is that the local administrator cant access the network share because it doesnt have permission and we cant give everyone permission to the share as its the SIMS confidential folder.

 

What i was trying to do is to get MDT to use another local user. This user has a username and password that matches a user on the network with access to the folder.

 

I might try using the runas command in the MDT command line box.

Names don't map like that though. Even if the name is the same on the local machine as the domain, they are still different accounts, and that account won't have permission to the share - its GUID is different.

 

I can see the problem you've got though, but can't think of a resolution.

Just tried it out on windows 7 again, if you have a local user that has the same credentials as a network user, you have the same perrmissions as a network user with regards to accessing folder shares. Found that out by accident one time.

 

WIll give the runas a go. Hopefully if i get MDT to add a new local admin user and run the script as a network user with the same users credentials it will let me install using the local admin account and use the network user permissions.

 

Update: Just found that runas doesnt allow password input.
