So, our school is closing at lunch today, as we've got so few staff in! Floods have basically cut the town off so we're short staffed, and its gonna rain the same amount again tonight.

 

Luckily, this town is quite good at avoiding flooding itself - it all just drains straight into the Bristol channel, but its still a bit 'blitz spirit' here.

 

Anyone else having flooding related issues?

We are in Chew Magna, and our car park is already starting to Flood (again). Water will probably get to waste high in some parts of the village, but the major roads seemed clear (That wasn't the case a few weeks ago!). Server Rooms are all on the 1st Floor :-)

One thing I've noticed is that Somerset and the South West in general seem to be treated kinda like the 'lepers' of the country when it comes to the media. The mention of our county being basically under water this morning is minimal at best. Yet, when a village in Cumbria was flooded last year, that was all over the place. Scotland had some flooding too yesterday and that was all over the place.

 

Its a bit weird that Somerset is ignored a lot!

Not flooding, but I got the dreaded "splashed by a car driving past" as I was walking from the car to school this morning. Meh.

 

I did that to someone once but it was a genuine accident and I felt soooo bad that I pulled over and apologised and then gave then a lift home! Ha (it was only around the corner and i knew them from school)

I think if you have anther Boscastle you'll get coverage.

 

But I know what you mean, where I live has a similar news blackout.

I am currently sitting where flood water was in 2005.. It would be up to my waist...

 

And they put the new server room right next door.

At home, the front door doesn't work between now and March. If it is opened, you can't close it again. I can't plane anymore off the lock side; I think it needs taking off and planing on the hinge side. I'm reluctant to do this, as the door rattles in the summer and it would be even worse if I fixed it so it opened during winter. It's been like it for 10 years so we're used to it. We go out the back door and down the side of the house. This morning, I went out the back and found the gutter was flooded and pouring water all over the path. Looks like it's out with the ladder on the weekend.

If you don't stop and make amends and they catch your plates they can claim on your insurance for their clothing/etc.
