DMcGuigan Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 My ratio is 0:0 I don't use steam, I'm more of a console gamer. But, I DO have a mass of games I haven't finished yet. For pretty much EVERY console. I had 150+ xbox games at one point, 3 gamers in the house all buying games, the piles stack up. Was pretty much console exclusive except WoW until I got a new system last year. Haven't really played them since, just the odd bit of CoD and some single player stuff.

I was never a massive Creed fan in all honesty, number one was too repetitive, got the full 1000/1000 gamerscore on AC2, and I've only just bought Brotherhood. Never mind Revelations and AC3. Yeah, the games are mostly gone now. One collection got sold, I bought the console though, so now I have two consoles running.. only about 20 games.. for now.

Can still buy it though, pre-orders I stated bought, so I get away with that one ^^ Yeah, I know they're expansions, but I wouldn't want to play AC3 until I've done the previous games.. tis just the way I am.

Indeed. I have pre-ordered the HMV version. and yeah, there's a few bits in AC:B/AC:R that lead into the modern-day parts of AC3.

Have the courage of your convictions and just set your games in cool historical periods. It's a shame AC1 was so rote and repetitive as the setting was amazing, and I'm disappointed at the choice for AC3, revolutionary France would've been much cooler. Or go backwards again, into the Byzantine Empire, or some of the Islamic/Christian scraps in Spain, or in the Age of Discovery... but no, we get Assassin's Creed: The Patriot, where we're all made to feel guilty for being British and our filthy tax-greedy ways.

Around the time of AC:B someone at Ubisoft mentioned a Victorian London AC. That would be cool. Much steampunkery would be had.

mwbutler Posted October 24, 2012 Author Posted October 24, 2012 I ended up getting an ATI 7870 (free gaimz, opencl is apparently much / going to be bigger than cuda, oc'd this card is a beast and better than the gtx 660 etc) I presume (4 year old) TVs aren't good for gaming? If that's the case I need a new monitor? And probably an SSD in the new year. Who needs savings? lol
3s-gtech Posted October 24, 2012 Posted October 24, 2012 Your TV will be fine for now - it's not ideal mainly because getting into a position where you can use keyboard and mouse with a big screen is tricky. On the plus side, at 720P or thereabouts you have a really well-specced gaming rig, that'll throw great framerates around. An SSD is getting to be an essential component now. My gaming PC doesn't have one, and it's frustrating when everything else I use does! As for screens, a decent 24" 1080P IPS screen (or even just a good TFT) is not mega money any more, and your PC is more than capable at that resolution too. 1

Weird. I find pretty much all games unplayable with controllers. But then, I've never really played console games. Keyboard/mouse is a lot simpler to me. I even used to remap the WASD keys to the arrow keys until about 5 years ago. 1

I was the exact same when I moved from consoles, but for some reason, I'm better with WASD now for driving... didn't notice it til sleeping dogs. I just keep my hand well away from the mouse and focus on the driving. Though if I have to shoot, bye bye cop rating.

Samsungs are the best (to be fair, the Crucials are also good, at a lower price point. But the Samsungs are pretty much the best around performance-wise, are very reliable, and not too pricey.) You could also save some cash by buying a 128Gb drive to install your OS on and then just run a second HDD for most of your games. There are applications around to let you move Steam games between drives, and Steam itself lets you choose which drive to install on now (I don't know if it lets you move them though). 1
