We are really hoping to engage with schools willing to consider learning through projects, setting up networks that students can actually use in order to learn (online discussions, debates, surveys, webcasts, wikis)... we'd like to see school being as technology oriented as home, but with a learning outcome. We support international links as we think these are the most motivating. We manage eTwinning , Connecting Classrooms, and the International School Award. Check out my blog I have only just started it but would appreciate any comments.

trevj Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Interested in IT and have some experience of teaching in schools (although don't hold a PGCE). Grew up with Acorn kit in the '80s and still have a RiscPC now. Am not an IT professional but hope that doesn't preculde my presence here

I know of at least 4 British style schools in Bucharest - all private but full of British teachers.

We send donated computers to schools in some of the poorest countries in the world. There is a constant demand, so we are always trying to source more equipment. We are seeking donations of; • Desktop computers (Pentium III and above). • Laptops (provided they have power adapters). • Monitors (CRT and TFT) • Keyboards, mice and power leads. • Floppy drives, optical drives and hard drives. We can take any number of PCs without charge - we only ask for a donation to cover transport costs. The service we provide includes secure data disposal using dedicated, defence standard software. Data Security IT Schools Africa places the highest priority on data security. We ensure that all data left on donated machines is destroyed. Our procedure is as follows: 1. We remove all hard drives immediately on delivery to our warehouse. 2. We then place them on our wiping station, where we wipe them using ‘Killdisk’ wiping software. 3. We inspect the sectors on each drive to ensure only random data is left on the drive. 4. We store the drives in a securely locked cabinet until needed. If you are disposing of any PCs, now or in the future, we would be very grateful if you would consider donating them to IT Schools Africa.

kate Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hi, I'm Kate, I work in the Marketing department of ADP, we are an architects with offices in Oxford, London, Birmingham, Yeovil and Manchester. I have been given the task of keeping the company up-to-date with all BSF activities. This involves a lot of research, as we are keen to know basically everything that is going on! At the moment I'm researching all bidder days for 2010 so we can attend them. If anyone has any information regarding these, I would be most appreciative. We are also considering opening an office in the North East, if a BSF project arose there, that we won. I look forward to learning more about the BSF and it's complicated processes! Kate
