Raspberry Pi To Embrace RISC OS on OSNews.

Seeing as some of you miss RISC OS, has it been noted that there's interest in getting RISC OS going on the Raspberry Pi device?

I don't know a great deal about these but understand that the ThinPro OS is based on GNU/Linux. The machines run varying OSes on various processors, as you state. It'lll be interesting to hear whether you find any of them appropriate.

There are plenty of upcoming products based on ARM technology and RISC OS is currently being ported to the Cortex-A8 BeagleBoard (screenshot here). Following recent discussions between myself and another RISC OS enthusiast based in Bristol, a new mailing list has been established! The news has also been published via the usenet comp.sys.acorn.announce newsgroup. RISC OS is, of course, also available under emulation (via RPCEmu and Virtual Acorn). For anyone interested in helping us to publicise our group, we will shortly have flyers available. If you know of any schools who miss their Acorns, please pass this message on. To revive an old thread, Acorn Computers has been recently established. As some of you may know, RISC OS is currently being ported to new hardware, including the Touchbook by Always Innovating. The previous (laptop reseller) Acorn Computers has been dissolved.

Interested in IT and have some experience of teaching in schools (although don't hold a PGCE). Grew up with Acorn kit in the '80s and still have a RiscPC now. Am not an IT professional but hope that doesn't preculde my presence here
