Jupiter Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Hello, every geeks Merry chrismas and good hliday! JOHN
solitaire89 Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Hi there people! Thought I'd pop in here and introduce myself... I'm Solitaire, and I'm an ICT and science tech in an independent school in Worcestershire. I am the only tech in the building, and although I have a "Network Manager" (please note the ""'s!) above me, I don't really have anyone to discuss my issues (obviously the computer related ones) with. I have been in IT for about 5 years, and have no qualifications at all in IT, not even a typing certificate! It's fairly tough going, and seeing as those in power have seen fit to let our contract with our support company lapse (as of June) with no intention of renewal, I am now right royally stuffed if I can't fix a problem! I've done ok so far, but I thought I'd use some 'nish and get sorted with my own support network so that if/when the fateful day comes and I'm beaten by a stupid machine I have somewhere to turn! So that's me!

witch Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Thank you both I'm already picking up bits and pieces! Oh, and I love the bumper stick thread from ages ago - that's made my day As Elsigee has said, this place is a lifesaver for the tech working alone. There is ALWAYS someone on here who can help you. This place has got me out of SO MANY holes, and made me look good into the bargain! Don't be afraid to ask any question, however silly you might think it is - people are very helpful and they understand that you may never have seen something before, especially if you used to have a support contract to fall back on. Welcome to Edugeek

FN-GM Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Why you do this?it is the regular advertisement,we just want others know our business, others can post the advertisement, why can't we?? Well because you have to pay for it for a starters. Plus they clog up the forums and they have no relevance to the original post. Its against the rules 1
