I suppose I ought to say something really after having been registered on here for a little while already....

Hello :D

My name's Jason and I'm a network manager for a selective grammar school in Birmingham. That'll do for now I guess, I don't want to have to start poking you lot with sharp sticks to wake you up on my first post!

Hello!

My name is Lewis and im an ICT tech in a special school in birmingham called Hallmoor School. Ive been working here for a year and a half now and still learning as i go along.

Previous to this i was working for Comet on the customer service desk for 7 years. (yes I was the one you all came in shouting at on boxing day when your cooker had broken down on christmas day!.....oh the joy! :D )

Hi,

I am just an observer and reader who happened on this site. I found someone struggling with a problem and tried to be helpful. So now I have to introduce myself. Hello

:welcome: jmsbjc :welcome:

That's probably how most of us started out on here! It's great to know that when you are stuck with a problem, that someone else probably knows the solution immediately... and in return we can use our own areas of expertise to help others.

Be warned... it's addictive :D

Hi and welcome :)

I take it you hit the first post no url block?

It has prevented so much spam from autobots.

Hi

been on here a few days now but only just found this thread...

I'm Glyn - Senior ICT Technician at a Secondary school in South Derbyshire where I've been for the last 6+ years. We have a Network Manager and one other Technician, 2 ICT Teachers plus one TA - although things are changing next term with retirements and moves...

We have about 300 PC's / Laptops plus maybe another 70+ Staff Laptops. We have 5 main ICT Rooms plus other areas like Technology who have 'mini' Suites.

We have just installed Ranger for Networks (Replacing CSE) to control Network Security Apps etc.

I'm also the Website and Learning Platform Administrator - We use RM's Kaleidos LP - like most schools in Derbyshire are/will be using.

Before being in School I was in the RAF for 12 years as a Radar Tech - moved in to IT and then on leaving the RAF went contacting for about 6 years (until Blair  put my Co out of business)

I worked mostly for big multi-national corporations - EDS, Rolls-Royce, British Aerospace etc so have come across a wide range of working practices - some good - some not so :)

Welcome Glyn:)

I see you seen the light and got out the RAF at 12:D i did 12 in the Army

I was signed on for 22 but then the redundancies came around so I got out - I came out and went contracting - 1st one was at DERA, 3rd one was at BAE, the 5th at Rolls-Royce Aero and the 7th at Astrium - All Defence related companies so you could say that I couldn't keep away ;)

Thanks for the welcome :tea: Cheers

Welcome - and out of pure interest - how come you've left military consulting to work in a school????

I'd much rather leave the school and go do some military consulting! :o :D
