I am after buying some laptops for use by Teachers (in and out of School). They need to be used by CDT, ART and IT teachers so will need to be able to run things like Adobe photoshop.

I want to know what people have already purchased in their schools and if they would recommend them. The budget is limited so am looking around £500 mark.

I buy nothing but Toshiba Sat Pro with the extended edu warranties now and they have been awesome.

Over the past six years I have needed to contact support once, for a failed hard drive, support was excellent and a new one arrived the next day.

Can't really moan about anything with them.

I buy them too - they are pretty good. Have just bought some i5s for SMT at less than your budget, I think

Go Toshiba, we had 90 of them for kids and thier warrentys were great next dayish delivery of parts.

we have just purchased Samsung 300e's for staff and have noticed that some bits arent included in the warrenty.

The Toshiba laptops we had, had a 3 year warrenty which everypart was included in it and that has now finished and the laptops are still as good as day one.

We had Tosh sat pro A300's which are years old now but im sure you could find newer ones now.

Do most people buy laptops with extended warranties? I tend to find that the extra cost adds so much that I can afford to replace something like 4 laptops (keeping broken ones for spares) and still save money and generally we don't get as many as 4 with faults. Obviously depends on how many you buy, but personally found it more cost effective not to...

Normally I would agree. However, the Toshiba extended warranty for laptops was around £30 last time.

Yeah the Toshiba warranties are at the cheaper end and I reckon worth it, I once enquired about extended warranty for my HP laptop and fell off my chair.

Um - the lower spec ones are C660-12Fs and I am not sure about the higher ones - have to look

We tend to buy ones that are end-of-life because they are often cheaper but you can get the full warranty
