Why have 'SoCo' (bloody stupid trying to reduce the name to make it hip!). I would rather a proper whiskey (give me a nice 18 year old Shirley Bassey) or a tasty single cask from Islay (Caol Ila for unpeated, Ardberg for something with a heavier flavour).

 

Then again ... I am pretty much tee-total ... I only drink at whisky tasting nights at the school, a dram for New Year and a to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Talking of whisky my dad has a 15 year old Bit older than that now one of these bowmore which is really nice but the cream de la cream is a single cask ardbeg only for me and him on special times ie christmas birthdays and weddings but as it is a 1974. at the the moment it retails at about £500 but we are looking at getting a new one 1975 bit cheaper and taste just as good i hope.(need to drink it neat no ice water lemonade) doing this is sacraladge

A bit of ice in some of the peatier whiskies is not a bat thing ... it helps to release the phenols that give it the characteristic flavour ... but too much can numb the taste.

 

Personally I prefer to roll it on my toungue to get the same effect, but even the serious tasters are known to have a bit of ice in the odd dram.

Normally i would agree and would never order it as SoCo in this country. Maybe when i go to vegas this summer. Was just a bit of a pain to type southern comfort though!
