Pupil Access to system tools etc

Hey guys,

 

Just a quick one to ask, what amounts of lock down you have on your student accounts, just as I have been over to another school to take a look at there system and there each of the pupil accounts are set to Full administrator rights. I have said that I am going to create new accounts for admin rights, then turn the pupils into standard users then block the ability to be able to access control panel and the likes of.

 

Just wondering what others guys do and do not allow access to for their pupils and what age groups you are working with?

Ours have a mandatory profile with access only to the programs they are supposed to have access to.

Locked down tight as a drum - it's not just for control, it simplifies the user experience down to what they need, and none of what they don't. Very little complaining here about it. They cannot access anything other than the programs and network drives they need.

Eek, students with admin rights it must be like running Windows 98 there.

Thats the scary thing Synack, most of the machines are windows 7!!!!

We don't bother locking down too hard, limited users without access to the control panel and offline files switched off solves most of the issues. I think we disabled the deletion of printer connections at one site but that was thanks to one particularly annoying student. Anything Vista and above is reasonably robust.
