Hi,

I currently work in a primary school.

This school is based in sefton. Now when i started this job i went with the OVS aggreement which works out to £3234 a year. Is this correct?

Also i have just spoke about getting a new server 2008 r2 license and they have said they will not sell us a server 2008 r2 license they can only sell us a 2012 one and we will then have to downgrade. Is this correct?

Thanks

Yes, this is normal. OVS only supplies licences for current versions, but you get automatic downgrade rights.

The real issue I have with Server 2012 licenses is that there is no Enterprise Licence, only Standard or Datacenter. Given that most of my Hyper-V hosts have 4 VMs on them, this has been a big PITA on renewal this year.

I believe you'd just need to order 2x Standard licenses for each old Enterprise license - as standard now comes with 2x VM licenses.
