joe90bass Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 I'm having great diffficulty getting 3 Windows 8 Ent tablets we have picking up proxy settings. I've tried using our current GPOs which set them via user config > Windows Settings> IEM, as well as trying via preferences. I've tried Windows 8 on a desktop as well, and the same issue. Running GP result shows them as not being applied, GP modelling shows they should be applied. I've trawled google, with no joy, and am about to trawl through the even logs for any clues Am I missing something obvious!

Richard Cheers, that's where it's set and has been for years. I've copied the templates over from a Win 8 PC to our central store. And tried googling to see if there's any updated ones for IE10 as well - that's not looking good at the moment!
InterwebsGuy Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 We have had a few issues with trying to get some GPO's to apply to Windows 8 Pro machines. I still haven't worked out why our IE settings won't apply either.

jamesmay Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 We are kinda having a related problem to this in the fact our 2012 domain group policy's won't set the proxy server address when set in gpp
Michael Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 If you need to set proxy settings, manually configure settings then navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings Make a note of the following entries: ProxyEnable ProxyServer ProxyOverride Re-create these settings under GPP and see if it works I've used this method on a few Windows 7 networks.

k-strider Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 ive never really got the internet explorer maintenance settings to work properly so have done the wpad.dat method and relied on the automatically detect settings being ticked by default! though i could do with having a gpo to untick this for our staff that use a different proxy.
christhack Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) Internet Explorer Maintenance is not supported by IE10 see: Internet Explorer Maintenance Replacements Microsoft advises that you use GPP instead or the IEAK. I am not sure how you are setting up your GPOs but I have found it advisable to always do it through the Server tools on the new OS. Update: Despite the webpage saying to use the IEAK to setup IE10 I have just seen a note on the page saying that the IEAK is not available for IE10... classic. Edited September 21, 2012 by christhack

SYNACK Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Wpad is a more universal method, as is setting it in DNS. Have you tried using the w8 rsat tools? W8 seems to be a bit squiffy with regard to gpp at the moment. We don't set the proxy here so have not encountered it.
jamesfed Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Might want to turn on Disable external branding of Internet Explorer (GPO under User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer) - with the GPO set to disabled it can muck up a whooole load of things in IE of all versions.

I can't find any errors or anything - other preferences seem to apply fine no trouble. I even tried making this the only policy object to apply and it makes no difference.

From MS themselves (I had this problem to!) If you see Red color in any setting you want to use, first press F6 to make it green. This is the new functionality in GPP which allows you to choose the options you want to set and ignore others. 1

Yep, you edited your post just as I was about to say I had to delete and recreate, the press F6 before filling in the info.....!!
