ok something else, had problem logging on as the administrator so I deleted the database and re started, went into the setup and when i configure the data base i get this error "Failure to create database structure, the error was: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'twitterCK', table 'OPSD.dbo.tblsettings'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated."

I click it again and it says everything is fine, create the user etc and then i go to logon and it still wont let me logon

OK Confused now, did you get any errors the first time you ran the installer as you said you did not? The fact you were not able to login would lead me to believe the installer did not run correctly the first time.

Did you create the SQL database with the required permissions as per the installation KB article?

yeah double checked the setting up of the sql database and have deleted and re setup. I think it may of brought it up but it was then followed by the 3 green boxes saying all the dayabase stuff had setup correctly..

Just completed a fresh install which went well - one thing we've had problems with is adding periods in the resource manager. We can add rooms, resources, set up weeks, etc without problem but when we select the "Periods" tab it's empty, no options to add or anything. Any ideas?

EDIT: Looks like the column period_time_header in tblrb_periods wasn't created during the install. Adding it solves the problem.

Hmm looking into that now as that should not have happened.

EDIT: Looks like I did not include the most up to date version of the install and upgrade script, how did I miss that. The download release has been updated with the correct scripts now

Ben.

Yeah it was me, I did not include the latest upgrade and setup scripts.

Have checked the download release and all is ok in there :D

Excellent work, thanks Ozan - and of course thanks for your support today. Resource manager is excellent however one thing I'd like to see/add to a "feature request" would the ability to make block bookings.

Block booking in what way? Multiple periods in one go?

Ah sorry - I meant as in the same period each week cycle. Better still if only certain users can do it (i.e. helpdesk editing technicians) but that could also be acheived using the advanced booking time bit. It probably wouldn't take much to alter the way things are done but would make my NM's life a lot easier! ;)

Not sure if I understand are you saying a block timetable booking OR a block booking for a set period of time for someone, being carried out by a member of helpdesk staff?

v2.4 is mainly going to be a security release which is going to do away with the current "User Roles" system in favour of a more granular bespoke approach. This will allow NM's the ability to define thier own roles and apply what permissons (Read, Add, Update, Delete, Reporting, Etc...) they see fit for that role and then apply that to a user. This will allow the software to further follow inline with current practices and policies used by individual sites.

This will fit in perfectly with what you are asking for the resource manager and permissions.

Hi Is this a free helpdesk or a paid for service? If its free how do you get a login? If not free how much is it?

Thanks

Hi tj2419, It's not free and costs either £300 per year or £500 for 3 years with no limits in use and all support and upgrades are included. If you like us on our facebook page we are giving away one free license per month until Jan 2013

Repeat bookings are possible.
