"Can you show Y3 how to use Audacity?"- certainly says I - we'll edit samples to make ringtones. :)

 

Into the suite we go - switch the suite PCs on I say and wait for the Choose (my own little autoit script that maps P: drive to their server class folder) Box to come up - now press Year 3.

 

I turn around to start talking about Audacity and the the cries go out - M Walters, Mr Walters, Mr Walters - its coming up red!!! shout the little darlings.

 

I think server has failed - no - its working and goes on t'internet and everything I check works except they can't get onto their classfolders :(

 

Well I ploughed on a bit but when I started getting internet wav downloads saying they were going to take 8 mins (I only had the class for 30 mins between lunch and swimming) it was time to hand the towel in.

 

Once they left, I closed and locked the suite door and then me and the server had a little chat!!!!!

 

Needless to say, it all works again now and it promised not to do it again the little .........

 

(I think it was my Win98 VM getting tired from being on for a whole term :) )

Gotta hate it when that happens, especially the times when it bombs and tells you to talk to your systems administrator (dodgy software). I'm mad enough already, I don't need a computer telling me to talk to myself.

There should be some sort of minimum professional standard that we all have to adhere to, with the continued use of Win98 grounds for instant ejection from the Board ;)

Oh yes ... the recent upgrade from Win95 has meant he can do so much more!

What a slur - I've never owned a Win95 computer in my life!

I went straight from WfWG 3.11 (Ah - those were days when you had to roll your own TCP/IP stack) to Win98SE :)

Before the court passing judgement m'lord, in myclients defence - he is running it as a Virtual Machine on top of a W2K3 server with Raid 7 and an ISCSI NAS (did I use the right words???)

So in your defence, you suggest that running a 14 year old product on an 10 year old product should be considered sufficient mitigation to avoid paying the ultimate penalty? <> Surely clear case where "Si in foramine tu define fodiendo" should have applied?

 

The prosecution rests. (and hopes that no one remembers enough of their GCSE latin to pick holes in the translation)

Quite close ... but I think 'ubi in foramine es, desiste fodere' is possibly better. Pretty sure that this is the version we used to use ... and the several hundred lines I had to write has made it sink in!

Not that I was ever naughty ... it was led astray.

GCSE Latin???? - surely an oxymoron :)
