Norphy Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 BETT is an education trade show. Think Computex or E3 but geared towards schools. Various vendors all gather and put on displays of their products to show people.
t_guest Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 were is this years bett i might come and have a look
elsiegee40 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 BETT is at Olympia in London - well worth the trip
Oops_my_bad Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Hardly suprising it's in London - that's where all the rich schools are /bitter They should really have it somewhere more central like Brum (or Manchester ) then we don't have to go through the ordeal of London's transport system
NetworkGeezer Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 were is this years bett i might come and have a look Been and gone mate unless you've got a Delorean sports car fitted with Emmett Brown's patent flux capicitor.
t_guest Posted June 11, 2007 Author Posted June 11, 2007 @NetworkGeezer i do own one of them i bought it of a man down the local pub hehehe
Dos_Box Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I was thinking about getting a batch of black t-shirts printed up with 'Non-Teacher' in large white letters accross the front and our logo above for our members on the stand.
mattx Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I was thinking about getting a batch of black t-shirts printed up with 'Non-Teacher' in large white letters accross the front I was thinking of wearing one with the words: ' I love Sophos' Written in large letters... ;-)

GrumbleDook Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I have a black and a white one ... but save them for special occasions ... when I know I am going to get hassled a lot during the holidays.
john Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 There is rumor that Olympia has lost Bett show to the NEC in Birmingham, there is a lot of problems with these London shows at present, I know a firm that does all the Health and Safety for them at Excel, Olympia, NEC etc and they were in for BETT next year but have been told they have the BETT contract but it now won't be at Olympia, its more likely to be the NEC or Excel due to some issues, so maybe worth keeping an eye out, supposedly a lot of these shows are going to shuffle around the venues.
elsiegee40 Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 Surely if BETT is advertising on its website that it will be at Olympia from 9 - 12 January 2008, the booking has been made and the show will be held there in 2008. A move for 2009 may happen perhaps? *Hopes it doesn't as she won't be allowed to go too far in school time *
john Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 I'm sure he said it was this year that was under threat and told to hang fire on it, but maybe this year is the last. I know there is a lot going to be shuffling around though, like the motor show did when i moved from the NEC to London.
alonebfg Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 On bett moving fom Olympia it wont happen main reasons is it is not just a uk conference it is posted all about europe and is one of the biggest in europe. The one you are thinking of is the education show this i beleve has moved about a bit and it mainly for uk. Bett even had visitors for the usa last year thats how big it is. And Olympia is near a big international airport.
Ric_ Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 @alonebfg: Don't forget the Sultan of Brunai who wanted to BUY an arabic version of EduGeek!
GrumbleDook Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 EMAP are unlikely to move from Olympia ... yes, it is true that it is now so large that there is limited room to expand and so some companies are using extra space at Olympia 2 to allow them to showcase some stuff (this year it was RM who also hosted a number of working parties). There is a lot of international money in London ... and if it wasn't at Olympia it would still be *somewhere* in London. I can't wait to see what it will be like in 2012 ... now *that* will be a year that will have a lot going on!
ThatBoringBloke Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I think this would be practical Sad thing is, I have one of them!
alonebfg Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 It might be 80miles closer to you but if you live in europe or anywhere else its not. By the way how much were ther offering for edugeek lol. I am sure I know a aribic translater.
john Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I can't wait to see what it will be like in 2012 ... now *that* will be a year that will have a lot going on! What's going on in 2012?
GrumbleDook Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 There is something rather spectacular happening in London in the summer that you just *know* that *every* tradeshow in London is going to have a reference to in their themes. For BETT it could be old school arcades games (Daley Thomson's Decathlon, etc), it could be people on stands (Roll up, roll up ... come and meet Jonathon Edwards!) or it might just be stuff that is actually relevant to the event itself (demonstrations of Dartfish or Game Breaker). Yes ... you have guessed it ... there is a sporting event with a strange branding logo that can be used and abused coming to you soon.
russdev Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 We would post logo but would make us all go into an eplictic fit Seriously I saw few seconds of advet nearly sent me into one and i am not eplictic. Russ
