Hi all,

Dont know if anyone can please help me, I am new to exchange 2010. I want my own mail server, which all I have bought is a domain name from 123-reg, and I have a control pannel where I can set dnd and name servers. I have installed windows server 2008 with microsoft exchange on one server, the server is a domain controller and dns, exchange. This is going to sound stupid, but what is a public ip address. All I have is a netgear dgn200 as a gateway, and on my netgear the dhcp is enabled, I have a static ip address for my internet from karoo, the servers lan card is set for 192.168.0.2 and the gateways ip is 192.168.0.1, for my exchange to be on the internet, how do I configure my server to my mx records on my 123-reg control panel?.

Please help me guys,

I have being trying to do this for 2 weeks now,

Thanks

So you have a static IP?

123reg has a totaly abysmal control panel. ( you need to use the Legacy one to get MX working )

set the mx record to the static IP.

Set your router to port forward 25/80/443/110 to your internal machine

Import your SSL certificate that you buy from Godady (the 5 server version)

NOW.

you don't realy want the real world connecting to SMTP on exchange so you need to build a spam filtering system inbetween.

Just been building another Exchange box today.

Depending on your financial constraints, you ideally don't want to expose the HUB/CAS to the Internet without a firewall, however, you can if you wisk and you can enable AntiSpam agents (Free) on the Exch server or purchase a product like FPE 2010.
