Like I update it whenever I fill up with how many Litres, the cost, etc and it will show me the MPL etc and average spend etc Does anyone have such a thing?

LOL.... I think you mean OBD-2 . I use Torque with a blutooth dongle. a 1994 car is unlikly to have OBD-2 ( especialy if it's a DERV ) although my 95 Scorpio did have it. 96/97 was a bout the point that most euro sold petrol cars got it and 2003/4 for Derv. My 2002 Mondeo does not. Be aware that the standard is nto stnadard!! Although the OBD-2 interface (16 pin D shape) may be found on many cars, some have no OBD-2 compliance and some use protocols that are not available on many readers. Vpower, PPower, CAN, Iso Kpwr.. Etc... For MPG... Write it down on a pice of paper and put it in a spread sheet. Torque gives you all the engien telemetry and other information, can be used for 0-60 and MPG. But it depends what the ECU is able to tell teh application. Rob

Chris_in_notts Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Pre 96 is likely to be OBD after then is likely to be OBD2 all petrol cars produced after 2001 will be OBD2 compatible and all diesels 04 onwards will be OBD2 and you should be able to reset the service lights on your BMW by shorting out afew pins on the round connector plug in the engine bay

My first test lead for my laptop cost me £150 in 2006, my BlueTooth Device cost me £5 last year. And I have a third lead for my Galaxy as most of the car is VW electronics and the eninge/security Ford electronics... Rob
crc-ict Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Try FuelLog - the free version is quite good. Just enter mileometer reading, litres and total amount and it'll track MPG, fuel cost over time etc. Really only works if you fill the tank each time though.

Pretty simple and it works quite well. I did try one called Mileage but it was naff and was unable to correctly work out my MPG

unixman_again Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Got a spreadsheet on Google docsI use a bash scrpt myself, which modifies itself to keep mpg for the life of the car. I wrote it in 1997 so it's pretty well proven to work.
