Trial iPads?

The ICT Co-ordinator in our primary school has asked me to arrange for a trial of some iPads for them like I did with Google Chromebooks.

 

Problem is, who to ask for this? I have no idea where to even start. Only way I got the Chromebooks was that I just happened to see a presentation by a company that works with Google and offered this.

 

Any ideas?

@localzuk has replied and has pointed out that the information that I supplied is a 1:1 pilot scheme [not one where the iPads are shared]

There are a couple of ASEs and AASPs who will work with schools on pilot schemes and it is worth ringing round to have a chat with those local to you.

 

The ASEs and AASPs I know our schools usually deal with are out of you area but that can put you in touch with someone more local (they generally are pretty helpful like that) so it is worth contacting KRCS, Solutions Inc, Toucan or Square Group.

 

It might also be worth you contacting your local Apple Regional Training Centre as well.

Generally you can get less well known tablets on trial because they are keen to sell them to you but Apple know that they don't need to. Kind of arrogant really

There are several Apple ASEs / AASPs who have iPad trials or are working on them at the moment. Part of it is linked with their relationships with Apple RTCs and some of it is to do with their support of some ADEs IIRC. There is a lot of politics that go with it (and some of the ASEs who are members will attest ... just not publicly !!) but it can happen.

 

Some LAs do still have the sort of setup where there are loan devices like this too ... but I don't think that applies in Tony's case so didn't want to suggest it.

Well, in the end this has been stopped, as they hadn't actually put it on their proposal for the next year so there is no budget until next year now. I'll revisit it then.
