What do you peeps think of giffgaff? I cant quite work out how it works as it seems too cheap. £10 goodybag gives you 250 UK minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited web Unlimited Internet with a 10 pound goodybag | giffgaff.com With a family of 5 on it then all calls between us would be free. edit : looks like you have to top up more than £10 to get any rolling credit as the first £10 is eaten up with the bundle. jamesbrown Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I'm on giffgaff, pay £10 a month and get 250mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data. Really cheap and hasnt let me down since i got it (March). Giffgaff to giffgaff calls and texts are free so long as you top up every 3 months or more.
Soulfish Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 My mum uses giffgaff. Don't think she's had any problems with them. They're actually owned by O2 so pretty safe to be honest!

Sagima Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I've been using it for the past three months. I don't think I'd go back to a contract as the £10 a month goodybag is just too good. I had to buy £10 worth of credit when I first started as well as the first goodybag (so £20 for month 1). Since then I've only used that credit for calling my brother in sweden - the goodybag covers everything else. I would say that the data connecting isn't particularly fast (I only get 1meg) but then it might just be ipswich - I don't get around the country much. I have discovered that even with unlimited data I've never needed more than 300 meg in a month yet.
Geoff Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I get HSDPA+ in Blackpool and 3G everywhere else. So I think it's just down to your local area how good the signal is. Mind you nearly everywhere I go a lot has free wifi (home, work, mates houses, the pub) so a data connection isn't a big deal breaker for me.

What kind of change? The website says you can change goodybags month by month and are not stuck to the one you choose first. What other change do you need to make?

Hopefully it'll be ok So far it seems ok (however O2's 3g is ok in my area, at work it's a little weaker). Was going to get the £10 goody bag, but they do a £5 goody bag for tablets/ipads for 500mb - so went for that instead.
fiendishlyclever Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I just ported back to Three because in many of the places I wanted to use my phone I would only pick up a 2G signal on Giffgaff/O2. I've had a Three sim in my iPad and used it alongside the giffgaff sim in my phone, and I can say that O2 still has a dreadful 3G network. Hopefully this will improve as they invest going forward in a shared physical network with Vodafone. In the meantime I'm back on Three (on a 12 month contract @ £10 a month with £100 quidco back!). Check the O2 coverage for where you want to use the sim, if you don't travel away from built up areas or you are happy with voice/sms then giffgaff is an excellent choice. 1

I should point out that GiffGaff have announced that they are introducing recurringgoodybags on 20 June 2012 - so this week my post about the "gotcha" becomes a non-issue. @fiza As I'm a new user at EduGeek, I can't include a URL for the source of that info but I've updated the post @Arthur linked to. As for coverage, GiffGaff is an O2 MVNO (in fact, they are owned by O2). From having used them for a few months now, the main difference is community support (forums, with online "ask an agent" for account stuff), some functionality (no Visual Voicemail, for example, AFAIK) but basically you save some money instead - if you're happy with that tradeoff (and you get decent O2 coverage in places where you travel), then you should be fine... I've configged my phone to only update over WiFi and am counting down eagerly the days until I can ditch Orange, buy a Giff Gaff sim and root my phone. I love the phone but HATE orange.

adhutton Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Their top-up/SIM activation/payment service has been non-existent all over this weekend and still isn't working this morning!! They appear to have experienced an 'outage' caused by O2, but dont seem very able to recover quickly. I was going to join, but been unable to activate my SIM so may just throw it in the bin instead... Anyone else had any problems? Andrew
