It's probably permissions assigned to the OU through Group Policy. Have a look in Group Policy Management on DC and compare what group policy objects are assigned to both OU's. If you click on the GPO and settings tab, it generates a report showing what is set.

I agree it has some new features that are good, like the mount ISO in Windows Explorer, but i think there needs to be a option to switch between the metro interface and a normal start menu.

Why would Server 2012 need a metro interface? It's a server, you wont find it installed on a tablet!.. I don't think Windows 8 or Server 2012 will work well in enterprises.

Hi Strange problem reported yesterday, when the teacher saves something in her documents on her office computer, then goes into her classroom and tries to access the file it isn't there. Done some testing and i think it is because she is saving to her documents, in libraries and it isn't updating quick. It shows up in their home drive straight away on the classroom computer. Does anyone know if there is a reason for this?

If these were closer, i would be really interested!

I would only buy Windows 8 for a tablet or touch screen, I can't see it being any good for non-touch screen computers or enterprises.

Hi Ben We have groups in Workgroup Manager, and we set the users by Security Groups in AD, not OU's. So in our group AppleStudents, in the members section we have security group "students" so they are added to it like that. Do you not have a xserve then? Hope this helps

Hi I don't know how to add a link on the desktop, but if you want to add a shared drive for the users, go to Workgroup Manager > Login > Items, and then add it to the list. When they log on it should appear on their desktop like the CD Drive does when a CD is present. James

How do you manage your users using home version clients and without AD? Use Server 2008 R2
