reggiep Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Can anyone suggest a place to buy cheap patch cables? We want to tidy up our cabs over the half term and can't find anything cheap enough to be able to buy enough! Thanks
iPrimary Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Though I know schools can't buy from eBay, I'd have a look (they're cheap as chips) find a decent BUSINESS seller from eBay selling them, send them a message through eBay, and I'm sure they'd be willing to progress an order through an alternate (standard invoice) route.
Guest Guest Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Softcat are quite well priced. Around 60p for 1m, 90p for 2.
chazzy2501 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) Alomost as good a ebay prices: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ethernet-Cables-Patch-Leads-Network/dp/B000TVR1M0/ref=sr_1_9?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1338465703&sr=1-9 This is a good example from Amazon but you might find better. WithoutMotive Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I tend to buy cable and cable ends to make my own up. Works out cheaper.

witch Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 You'd need a crimper etc for that, and it's a pain in the ass It certainly is if you have a lot to get. Have you asked any of your suppliers? They will possibly come up with a good price or even throw you a few free

We want to tidy up our cabs over the half term and can't find anything cheap enough to be able to buy enough! Thanks How long, how many and what price you looking for in general? Just for pricing wise. Steve
chazzy2501 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 on my link you can get a 100 patch cables for £27 I can't imagine you could get the raw materials for less? Let alone the 3 hours it'd take to make them. Plus I find factory made cables are more robust.
Haptic Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Give us a shout, we offer some pretty mean cable pricing Joe
plexer Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Last time I bought a stack of mayfelx patch leads was from CP. Those one linked too I would trust to hold my door open. Without being able to test and validate a patch lead I wouldn't make my own. Ben
dgsmith Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 We bought about 100 of them a few months back from Luke @ Millgate.. I think they were 0.3m and his price was very good! I would deffo give him a shout.
SpuffMonkey Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I used to buy a lot from repsole.com - a leading supplier of datacom and telecom products, cables, connectors, cabinets, panels, fibre optic products and much more - pretty cheap and OK
Sylv3r Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I've often bought mine from RJ45, RJ45 Patch Leads, RJ45 Cables, Cat 6 Cable in the past.
User3204 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Try from Topological, they're quite close, so should be able to get them to you for next week. Linky Amongst a quote for a change to an ICT suite, we're getting 17x 1m and 17x 2m cables for 27.20 (I don't know the price per cable), and they do them in various colours (although the odder colours may take longer to arrive).
Cache Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I just tend to buy mine from CPC when ever I'm doing an order to them and running low.
User3204 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 yaargh, I've just realised I'm going to have to sort through my cable boxes before the summer, so I can re patch a couple of my cabinets.... Blargh, I hate re-patching, I end up with wax over my hands and a cold from where the air-con was blowing a cold blast down the back of my neck.
