The sun has briefly com out. If it carries on like this Kent will be flooded and no longer have a shortage of water. The rain's been horizontal most of the morning.

Teenage son was wearing coat when he left home... can't help wondering if he took it off before he got to the bus stop!

A bit dull in Preston with a couple of light showers today. Gutted yesterday. They predicted wind/rain all day so I took the car. It was very nice and sunny with a light breeze for the most part and I could have cycled in :(

Yes, but what about the weather? :p

It's been pretty much similar here, nice weather for the most part Monday - then all started to go downhill fast to today's only brief bits of non-hooning-it-down.

daft as it sounds if the ground is too dry water cant easily soak down to get into the system and just rolls off the land and uselessly away. same as part of the problem in the south east is the amount of concrete on the ground with people concreting in gardens etc water just runs off rather than soaking down into the groundwater system

Was fair hammering in Telford most of the afternoon/evening...went to pick littly up from Nursery at 5.20pm, and it was heavy then. Coming back with her in the car - mental. SO much surface water, people were aquaplaning. Even my autobox was spinning the wheels up on junctions. Low speed driving, lights, wipers, demisters on, and water spraying over the bonnet when turning so the wheels were pointing out of the shell slightly..interesting!

It's hammering it down and there's a strong wind. We have waves blowing across the playground. I pity the poor kids who get dropped off early and have to wait outside for 30 minutes or more!

Made my commute from Wolverhampton to Ludlow even worse not only is the road more of a river but most the vehicles are tractors causing epic wake down the road, need a wakeboard and some tow rope :bounce:

Sadly a few days, or even a few weeks, of on again off again showers will not refill reservoirs. It won't do the crops any harm though!

Even if they were full, still would take them 3 months to decide to lift it... You would think after a lifetime of hose pipe bans being on/off in a country that actually does see quite a bit of rain they would build more. If countries that see hardly any rain and actually have REAL droughts can still use water... and survive you would think the great british isle would. Then again we are country where suppliers only care about profits.

if they really wanted to do something about water shortages they'd fix all the leaks but its easier to annoy customers
