The time has come

Our year 11 kids have left today. Part of me is happy, and part of me feels a little sad... aaaa well, here we go again

Our Year 6 are away on residential this week and it's lovely and quiet!

 

I always feel a bit sad when they leave us for secondary school no matter how many problems they've caused. The upcoming year 5 soon make up for it though!

Lucky you. I wish our Year 8's would leave - the number of classroom exclusions has doubled in the last week. They're going mad!

Everytime I hear about year 11s leaving, it reminds me of one group of year 11s we had a few years ago.

 

On the day of their leaving, one of them set off the fire alarm. Dutifully the rest of the school filed out in time honoured drill routine - only to be prresented by a beautifully orchestrated mass mooning of the school population by about 50 year 11s.....

I just console myself with thoughts of their first job interviews. "And tell me - yes, I'm talking to you - just what qualifications do you have? Shelf stacking - or Interactive Stock Control as we call it these days - requires GCSE's in English and Mathematics, plus a certification in the use of RFID devices, you know".

Someone did that here - we now have teachers on "fire alarm" duty on the last day!

There were a number of fire alarms set off during exams when i was doing my GCSEs.

 

I think they had about 4 fire alarms in a couple of days at one point (or some rediculous number)

I know what you mean about biting your nails. Thoughts of "whats going to happen to the car" going through my mind for being such a nice person :-) over the years.

Our 11s left a few weeks back, the 13s went yesterday.

 

Both year groups were very pleasant in their muck-up day antics, with no fire alarms, rioting, etc - the 13s even met everyone in the car park as they arrived and gave out sweets!

 

I haven't disabled any accounts yet, as the students are still in and out a lot doing revision and such like. When the exams have finished, I'll archive the 13s and disable the 11s - I find it easier to wait until September before deleting them as we don't really know who is and isn't coming back yet.

Our year 11's leave today. Tradition here is to have a fancy dress day so today we with a sponge bob square pants, winnie the pooh, tigger, the ymca, bob the builder and many more. I have been signing leavers books all week.

 

We have got about 10 members of staff escourting them off the premises at about 1 with three to watch that they dont damage the staff cars!!

There were some really cool kids in Yr 11 who I had some amusing conversations with, but also there were some proper troublemakers too.

Same here a lot of the year 11's i actually know from outside of the school. I have even been invited to one of their birthday parties on saturday!!! They have even made up a song that they sing whenever i walk in the room!

I asked a year 11 to leave the building, he stood there and laughed, told me I couldnt tell him what to do as he had left school. So I told him, If you are officially left school, that must mean i can knock your lights out (with a big grin on my face' he complied of course i wouldnt have done that, but hey reverse psychology works every time

I don't have any Year 11s or 13s as I work at a first and middle school.

BUT I do have a Year 11 and a Year 13 of my own who 'left' last week and this week. It feels very odd to only have one child officially at school anymore (Year 9).
