Samsung Printers - Any good?

I need to replace a few mono printers here and was wonder what experiences people had with Samsung Printers? what are they like? what is the support like?

I can get a Samsung ML-3710ND printer with a 5 year warranty for £159 exc VAT

We've started using them recently. Pretty good so far - proper drivers (not the universal stuff that HP chucks out), and reliability seems good to. As you say, also quite cheap.

I don't know about the specific model you're looking at, but when I considered Samsung printers for a managed contract a year and a half ago, the toners were only 2,000 pages (if that) so they'd need changing every other week round here... worth bearing in mind.

The model i mentioned as a 10k page toner at the cost of £112 which i thought was ok.

We have a mix of Samsung and HP lasers here. While the HPs are alright (but flimsy), the Samsungs just feel so much tougher than the newer HPs. We have some old ML-2150Ns which are tough as old boots, and I've recently bought some ML-3710s as they were on special offer. Very fast, decent page yield for the toner cost, and well made.

I purchased about three Samsung printers a couple of years back as they were getting good reviews. None of them lasted though, just as the warranty expired so did the printers, usually due to overheating which then causes constating Printer Jams. I've got three sitting in my store ready to be recycled. Never again.

 

I've been purchasing Kyocera printers recently and have been very pleased with them so far.

We've got a managed print contract and have been provided with a fleet of Samsung ML-3710ND's.

 

The printers themselves are pretty good, on the other hand the Samsung driver isn't great, it includes some port monitor thing that was constantly popping up telling you that the port is not connected (but still printing), a couple of other people on this forum have had the same issue. Samsung finally provided an updated driver that removed this port monitor. Samsung are coming out this afternoon to have a look at this port monitor issue.

We have been supplied with a replacement driver that disables this feature. Samsung are still looking into the issue to find out what causes it though.

All our printers here are Samsung, and touch wood, they've been fine. We don't have that model though so cannot comment on that one individually.

I would recommend them. Test the driver that Samsung supply first, if it works fine then roll it out, if you experience the same issue as us I'll forward the modified driver on to you.

Wow with £70 cashback the Samsung ML-3710ND you can get them for £90 at the mo. Any feedback on how these printers are performing would be useful + has anyone tried compatibles in these printers or are you sticking with originals?
