SCCM - Latest Windows updates changed to expired
10101010 replied to 10101010's topic in O/S Deployment
if anyone has this problem in the future - when configuring Software Update Point in sccm do not select any Windows 10 Versions that include 'upgrade and servicing drivers' -
Morning All Came in this morning to find sccm has decided to chance the status of 3 windows updates to expired after successfully deploying to around 60% of clients - they haven't been superseded so no idea as to why this might have happened. Any ideas or logs I can look in ?
-
We are currently testing windows 11 and having the same issue, how did you actually resolve the problem ?
-
I had a major issue with users authenticating on Smoothwall and it turned out to be the disk performance issue Might be worth checking the disk wait time which you can find by running Top if you log in as root and SSH session.

Hi Anyone else experiencing an issue with Teams whereby students have notified staff they are waiting in lobby but Teachers dont receive notification? Some students are not automatically being added to a meeting, they are joining and waiting in the lobby but staff have not been alerted that they are there. Some teachers have had some students wait in the lobby for the whole lesson and have been blissfully unaware. If they staff member asks them to join they are let in. They aren't being notified in the way you would expect. anyone else experiencing this issue?

We are in the process of leaving SIMS and FMS We looked at PS Financials, Access and Finance from Bromcom - overall the finance team preferred the Access solution. I will post here on how the migration goes over the next few months. The Bromcom solution from what I could see is the only fully cloud product, the other two are both RDP sessions to a hosted solution (correct me if im wrong ) Our preferred MIS wasn't Bromcom so we ruled out using there finance package also.

Recording External Telephone Calls and GDPR
10101010 replied to 10101010's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Yes we are at present - technically not possible for outbound with our system like many big businesses dont - so would staff have to inform the receiver that the call is being recorded for monitoring and training purposes? If they don't warn then it can't be used? -

Recording External Telephone Calls and GDPR
10101010 replied to 10101010's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
There is no opt out we either use it or turn it off completely. For mutual protection for both staff and parents in the event of disputes. Staff training - if for example the staff member did not handle the call so well and maybe how they could handle the situation differently. Only SLT are able to request access to recordings via the administrator which is me. The system will also identify if I have played back a recording for any reason. -
Morning All Our phone system has the potential to record and store external calls which we can set to delete after a period of time which is set to 30 days at present I've been looking for some guidance on whether is something that schools are permitted or should do, but have found little documented guidance. If anyone has any DFE guidance please link it here. These are the things I have considered so far : Standard message when ringing on the main switchboard number 'this call will be recorded blah blah blah', If we need that message for every inbound call to a direct dial then there will be a charge for setup - so at present it's not being done. Letter home at start of academic year informing parents Placing a notice on Contact Us website - 'Your calls will be recorded for blah blah blah' An what about staff ringing out to parents - should we expect staff to inform the parents that the call is being recorded ? Is anyone else doing this and what else do you do to make sure you are GDPR compliant? Or don't bother it's not worth the hassle : ) All advice welcome

Anyone seriously thinking of placing an order using this facility? The pricing is unbelievably good. -
Are you still running with laptops or switching to desktops? I'm in exactly the same boat.

"further 3 years until the hardware is EoL" yeah I'm leaning towards that route as I have plenty of other renewals to consider right now.

So my wifi is happily ticking along, but it's five years old now and my 5 years support contract is just about to end, I'm certainly sure I could extend the life for a bit longer. At what point do you guys say 'time to upgrade your wifi infrastructure'?

ah just remembered I only have the P1 licenses for staff as we use their 2mfa facility. That's absurd if i need P1 for students. - the article suggests it's for the people creating groups only, i hope thats the case. -

ok, at least I know its possible now, Microsoft support have been telling me it's not. They did not explain the need to disable group creation for eveyone like u say.
