Samsung S2 Overheating

Hi guys,

 

I've got an S2 and every now and then it gets very hot. Is that normal???

 

I've downloaded the Smart Battery app and that say my phone is 39 degrees!!! I've got a tan on my right ear! Ha.

 

Any words of wisdom would be appriciated!

I also have an S2. With the case on and the phone not in use the battery temp says its 25c. I have seen it about 30c but thats still not as hot as yours.

I'll ask the mobile guys tomorrow but I didn't think it was normal. It's hurts to answer the phone.

 

I've swapped the battery, hopefully that will cool it down!

Would be interested to find out what the problem is/was. just be careful that that battery dosent pop and spew fire all over the place.

Use it on your other ear so you have a tan on each ear to even it out ?

 

Not sure on terminology but are there any updates / patches for the phone whether it be for the OS / Firmware or otherwise ?? Also when you leave it on standby I presume you have or close down all apps that you don't need running ?

There was a version of android from Vodafone that use to make the HTC Sensations overheat horribly, it was related to the screen power not cutting off when the screen was "off".

I had some colleagues who said the Galaxy S2 was the dogs danglies, not sure who you are with but my other halfs phone is from vodaphone and its a pile of poop due to all the vodaphone gumph and they have mucked the android and phone up etc.

I know quite a few people who have recently gotten the s2 and they all like it. < Myself included >

My S2 came from Vodafone and it didn't have any VF crap on it, it certainly doesn't now as it has a custom ICS ROM on it which means now after a full days usage I still have at least 35% battery left...

Mine can get pretty hot at times too, was good on cold mornings :-)

The GT-I9100 version has been shown to run hotter than the GT-I9100G version. So it is pretty normal I think...

 

Mine seems to get hot only if there is something happing for a prolonged period of time. Such as listening to music for hours, or a particularly large up/download.

mine does it, battery also seems to drain faster when its doing this. I usually force close the browser and it calms down.

Yeah, my battery just disappears when it's like that. It hasn't done it since so fingers crossed.....

Looking on the various forums, users are reporting heating if streaming / wifi / bluetooth / gps services are being used. Particularly if the phone is being charged at the same time. I have a HTC Desire and it gets really hot when I use BBC iPlayer over a wifi connection.
