Yes, but only for new tablets. There isn't really anything I've seen - real or concept, which is better than Windows 7's offerings.

 

I can imagine someone developing a Windows 8 theme for Windows 7, but what I'm really interested in is the feature set. How will it make the user experience any better or faster?

If MS gave everyone free touchscreens with every copy of Windows 8 maybe... while I still need a mouse and keyboard it looks like a backwards step (although waiting for the beta to decide fully)

It made me think of Ununtu... So no. I wouldn't buy it.

 

If I wanted something to remind me of a Linux/GNU OS, I'd get Ubuntu and avoid giving money to Microsoft.

Looks almost exactly like Ubuntu to me. Which incidentally the new version is horrible.

Maybe for home if Mediacentre functionality is better integrated and touch optimisation translates to better control with a remote rather than keep having to grab a wireless keyboard and mouse. For the work network though, it doesn't matter what it looks like but rather how it works. As long as the functionality and managment mechanisms are the same, or any changes are actual improvements and well documented, then perhaps. What will it do on the average desktop machine or laptop that 7 can't?

 

Agree with comments that this imagining looks like a linux gui, albeit a pretty one.

I like it, but would question how practical this simplistic theme would be day to day, even if windows 8 looked like this i doubt it would swing me towards purchasing it over the standard theme to be honest..

It looks like the Zune software and Xbox 360 dashboard combined, with additional features. I like.

I like Metro (being an amateur typography sort of geek, in my own little way) so I'd be all for it. But then I do still like Windows 7 Aero, so I probably wouldn't go out of my way to upgrade...

I would only buy Windows 8 for a tablet or touch screen, I can't see it being any good for non-touch screen computers or enterprises.

I love how Windows 8 looks, with it's neat boxes and so forth. Guess I am used to it from the Xbox360 interface but it just kinda 'fits' with how my brain works I suppose

I'm using windows 8 right now and I like, it boots up very fast and is very simple to use after you have spent 10 mins with it.
