Sorry, should have said to start with.

we're using ident by location for the public wifi, mapping onto our default student group.

 

Have tried putting the site into our whitelist, but made no difference ...

perhaps set up an exclusion for .134 on that range and setup new location - I'd try it with no auth first of all.

Any progress on this..?

 

Slightly different scenario, it's with a staff computer (on domain, using NTLM Authentication / Non-Transparent Proxy) with the Kindle PC software installed, but it is failing to synch/connect.

To be fair I haven't checked the logs yet to see why - just thought I'll ask beforehand incase it is a general option to enable/disable etc

IT might be the Kindle app can't handle NTLM Authentication. YOu might have to add amazon into the Authentication exceptions cat.
