Has anyone got WSUS 3.0 and Sophos EMC on the same server? We are thinking of moving Sophos to a new server as the one we use is on its last legs but to warrant buying a new server i think i would need to put WSUS on it as well.

We currently have WSUS 2.0 and Sophos EMC on the same 2003 server and don't have any problems. All the WIndows update and Sophos definitions go out to the clients from this box without any problems.

I am unsure now about WSUS 3.0 as they have vhanged the structure and backgound workings of it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I can't see that there would be any issues tosca, I've just put wsus 3.0 on a new server and although the layout is slightly different I don't think there would be an issue with having both on the same server.

I am having a nightmare getting it to install on my machine in a school that has everything on, it throws wobblys on install, rolls back then you try to put V2 back on and nope that gives nasty warnings and mumbo jumbo in the log it makes, error codes don't even relate to WSUS, they relate to standard Windows update. Tried using a SQL database and the Internal One, last thing I can think of is to go through the entire registry and remove all WSUS references and delete everything for WSUS that has been downloaded in the past and see if that helps.

Yes, I've done it this week. I call it my "Security box" because it runs WSUS 3.0, Sophos EM and IAS :D

It's always nice to have one box doing one thing (where money permits of course)

Hmmm, mine has a problem when it comes to Dynamic IIS Compression part of the setup :( When googled I get one reference to it and its a tick box they ticked and it solved it for them, but it hasn't for me :(
