I'm wishing the working week away as I get to pick up my (almost) new car on Saturday morning! I shall be driving a shiny black Peugeot 308 1.6VTi Sport 5 door! The wife kindly gave me her old Clio to part-ex in on condition that she had my old 206 which seemed like a fair deal. So on Saturday, I will be mostly driving all over the county, then sitting on the drive for a few hours reading the manual and fiddling with all the buttons and features! :)

I have the 308 sport 5 door but diesel 1.6

Have to say that it is a very good car. it does look a bit bulbous at the front at first, but you do grow to like it.....honest!

think you'll enjoy the ride :)

My current Peugeot is a HDI engine and I would have like another diesel. However the chap at the dealership said that almost new cars with diesel engines are very hard to come by and in most cases you would wither have to buy brand new or a good 3+ years old with a few miles on the clock.

I gave it a test drive last week and it was so comfy to drive (fell in love with the arm rest! Small things!!!) and noticeably more quiet the my 206 diesel which is a plus. And I really like the look of it. I'm no speed freak/boy racer but in jet black with 17" alloys, I happen to think it looks mighty fine! ;)

However, people have told be black is the hardest colour to keep clean!

i absolutely love this engine i have to admit. quieter than my old 206 1.9hdi (which was like a tugboat!).....i consistently get about 600 miles from a tank.

i really do like the armrests too. it is like you say, you never have them so dont miss them, but as soon as you find driving with your elbow on that, you miss it when its not there.

i have the silver with 17" alloys, and it doesnt look too bad. i know when i bought it the guy in the showroom was saying they had another 308 with better alloys for another 500 quid but for the sake of having a different shape i couldnt be bothered

I'd suggest he's been smoking something herbal, or just trying to flog a particular petrol.

specifically Peugeots. I looked all around the dealership at the second hand cars are there were only a couple of HDI cars, and almost all of them were 4 years+ with a good amount of miles on the clock.

stay away from the speed limiter (if you have the same options as mine).

i once had it on and had forgotten, it was set to 30. as soon as you hit 30 it pretty much slows you down, so if you are accelerating it will slow you down VERY quickly. not good if speed limit changes and you don't change the limiter.

Pah! Who needs a van. My Yaris is like a tardis when it comes to gigmobiles, :p 400W bass amp, bass guitar, bag of goodies, two 400W powered speakers, stage piano, piano stool, piano stand, boxes, etc. It amazed me the first time I did it! Rear view mirror becomes redundant though!!

If you'd note the size of bass cabinet (IE; almost my height and twice my width),full drumkit, two 4x10 cabinets, heads x3, guitar flightcases x3, plus various other equip - and merch stand

so yeah...if you wanna bring your yaris round and give it a go you're more than welcome ;)

:yield: Blooming heck, what size venues do you play!? My 400W 2x10 does me for larger size venues and my 60W 1x12 for smaller ones!

Apologies to OP for going OT!

Anywhere from pubs to 3000 cap venues - pushing more air is great for the outdoor shows though.

plus it's \m/
