Uninstall Word 2003 Spelling and Grammar Checker

Does anyone know how to uninstall Spelling and Grammar checker for Word 2003. I know you can disable it, but we need it uninstalled for a test, and dont want the ability to just re-enable it.

I would suspect you would need to use the office resource kit to make a transform to remove it then redeploy office.

Why not create an OU in Active Directory at the same level [or below] the one currently holding those about to do the test, create and edit a policy going to the following:

 

User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Microsoft Office Word 2003/Tools | Options/Spelling & Grammar.

 

In here you should find 18 options for spelling and grammar which can be set and enforced for any users in that OU.

 

Check also the entry below:

 

Tools | AutoCorrect to ensure that those being tested are not being assisted by the software automatically.

Those options don't seem to work, or didn't when I tried them for an exam setup so we just use wordpad as we gave up trying to modify office.

are you doing tis in relation to exams coming up?

 

I need to do this on stand alson laptop for a user to sit an exam so Office GPO are out of the question for me.

@tosca925, we found to meet the JCQ's rules (think its JCQ its the body that rules over the exam boards) that MS word is not suitable for them anymore as they have tightened it up so much that the only program you can get away with is a really really old copy of word or wordpad. Notepad is not suitable as you cannot do bold, underline etc in it and you have to be able to do that so we use wordpad as you can do basic text features and it seems to meet the rules fine and the exam checking team were fine with it and we were praised for how well setup the laptop was with just shortcuts to wordpad only etc.

I have ended up using WordPad. As normal we never had enough time to look into this, so the easiest option was to remove Office and get them to use WordPad.
