Can you feel the excitement...? Tensions rising.

I wonder who'll be the first to find a fault.

I'll make this sticky so we can report any findings.

No

I wonder who'll be the first to find a fault.

Not us, we will wait before rolling out.

We sent out a "DotNet4" checker a while ago, anyone fancy betting how many "Please install DotNet4" we get?

@creese, surely killing Sysman6 should make you want to upgrade!

You go ahead and attack me Matt! You know how I hate those 'orrible green squares. Those shiny Red ones are far more appealing.

And please stop telling people I can be helpful! I have got a reputation to maintain, ain't I? ;)

I tried updating using Solus but got a 'tolerance not met on package'... then it rolls back. looks like it tries to update the database before it allows the clients to rol out (may be wrong)

So I logged a case with Solus just now and went back to the old method... ran Solus 2 and installed it on the Sims Server perfectly. Only problem is the clients don't install the update so i am getting imcompatible database errors on the clients now.

Oh dear...looks like a busy day for me tomo

Have the clients got .Net 4.0 installed?

We would have gone with the Release if it had been on the original date but it'll be a holiday job now! Pity cos I wanted my hands on System7. It seems an absolute age since I was at the UATesting of this!

Yes 4 is installed. Got my remote client working by running the Simsapplicationsetup.exe. The Simsload on the client didn't pick up the new version for some reason. Now i have installed Summer on the server I would hope that when I sort this out Solus 3 it will just see that its already up to date and skip the updates.

On another similar matter... when you deploy an update to everyone... you shouldn't have to do it again should you? It should see a computer come online and deploy the update?

'Fraid I ain't the technical expert - my forte is the software itself.

All I know is that SOLUS3 has failed for us each time we have tried it, right from the first Field Trial attempt! Last time Capita had to remote in and even they could not find the problem! This time my colleague is, unfortunately, out of school for a while and so I ain't sure whether we will get SOLUS3 working this time or not! If not it will be a big job getting .NET 4.0 onto all the clients to use3 SOLUS2!

My workstation will be ok though - it already has it for Schoolcomms! :) And that's all I'm bothered about for the hols!

@simcfc73 if the SOLUS3 agent is installed on a machine, SIMSLOAD won't check the setups directory for newer versions - cause S3 won't update your setups directory.

Nope, it looks alot better than the old version although I haven't used it in anger yet

Well, you can stick to System Manager 6 if you love it that much, we'll all be playing with the new version which is System Manager 7;)

Did you mean 7 though..?

I see that InTouch has a known issue, but i don't think that counts as the first fault so the competition is still open..

If your a non FMS school and move to an academy status, then (a part from licencing) you don't have to do anything in SIMS except change the schools name. This required no input from Capita or any additional paid support that is offered along with the licencing agreement. Summer changes all that.

The school name field is now 'locked down' and cannot be change without a patch - I'm wondering if this is going to be chargeable by Capita as part of the migration from maintained to academy status?

Summer 2011 Release is not long away! planned for COB 30th June.

Pre-release notes look exciting. SupportNet Document ID #17949

Highlights are in Student List Reports , FMS interface, and System Manager 7. AND Homework setting on SLG - though that's payable :(

most likely a dumb question but where do i get access to the SupportNet Documentation, it is part of the School Comms system which is searchable?

No, it's free. If they decide to change there mind, tough, I have the patch, mwah. Yet to test it however, on my to-list.
