I received a message today saying that SOME services have been restored.

Hopefully everything will be back up and running in the next few days or so.

had this from sony

Dear PlayStation®Network user:

As you may have heard, PlayStation®Network was suspended worldwide on 20 April 2011 following a criminal cyber attack on our servers. We're pleased to say that we have now started restoring some PlayStation Network services. Over the coming days, more services will be back up and running and you should keep an eye on eu.playstation.com/psnlatest and PlayStation.Blog at blog.eu.playstation.com for the very latest developments.

Before you start using PlayStation Network again...

In restoring PSN, we have introduced a safety measure which means you will need to update your PlayStation Network account password before you can start using PSN again.

If you've got a Playstation®3, you can do this by updating to system software version 3.61 and then signing in to PlayStation Network from the XMB (XrossMediaBar) Menu. Find out more at eu.playstation.com/ps3psn. Otherwise, you can change your password by visiting https://store.playstation.com/login.gvm on your PC. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes and if you'd lke more help you can follow the step by step guide at eu.playstation.com/psppsn.

Free games on us...

To thank you for your patience whilst PSN has been unavailable, we'll be rolling out a Welcome Back programme for all PSN users shortly; this will include free games to download and a month's free subsciption to PlayStation®Plus (or a free month for existing members). Once available, we'll publish a full list of Welcome Back offers in your country at eu.playstation.com/welcomeback.

when I signed in to PSN it said i needed to change my p/w and gave me a pasword change box to do so. Did that an all worked fine. I've not received any emails however.

I think if you have your original PS3 that you created the PSN account on it will do that, but if you have another PS3 (due to your original PS3 failing for example) then you get an email asking you to change it on a computer.

Mine isn't the original PS3 I created the account on and it let me change my password on it no problem.

Edit: Completely off topic, just noticed I've got my first edugeek rep gold star:D

Great choice of 3 yr old titles to choose from...

Posted

e-mails arrived 1:45 this morning so now all sorted finally what a faf

right looks like for the free games little big planet and probably wipeout never heard of the others

Posted

I'll be getting infamous as its great fun, played it round my mates and considered buying it last week! Little big planet is great, very different and endless levels with the online selection, shame its not little big planet 2 (yet to get that) and great for the inner geek / inventor

e..g

i have made an "electronic" 8bit calculator (not "mechanical" calculator) with the Beta demo of "Little big planet" (a new PS3 game with an editor for create).

it do decimal/binary conversions and it can do Add and Sub.

There are probably more simple solutions for calculator machine but i was more interested by this "electronic" solution for the fun

computation take clearly less that a half second

this calculator use:

- 610 magnetic switches

- 500 Wires

- 430 pistons

- 70 emitters

and others stuff...

There are hundreds of copy right ridden levels out there too :) with huge amounts of DLC also often aimed at the inner geek child, marvel, xmen, metal gear, the incredibles etc..

am i the only one who just doesnt "get" little big planet?

i just remember hearing good reviews

just had a look at infamous looks like it might be good and as its free and wipeout was just a default option lol

Welcome back pack is now on the store.

I'm getting wipeout, but I can't decide on what other title i should choose (seeing as I already have LBP on disk and that would have been the other title i would have chosen). I'm thinking infamous or ratchet & clank.

If anyone has any issues (like I did) with the welcome back package 'disappearing' when you try and claim it and it errors - here be a way to get the freebies...

Browse to: Playstation Network / Account Management/ Transaction Management / Services and you'll be able to see the 'missing' items there - then you should be able to download the freebies.
