HDMI - Windows 7

Hi guys

 

I don't quite know if this is a Windows 7 problem or if it is just me making a dreaded USER ERROR. I've recently bought a new Graphics card and installed it, all works fine. VGA works fine, DVI works fine and so does HDMI EXCEPT, no matter what resolution i put the graphics card to, i can't see all of the screen when it's plugged into HDMI.

 

It's not much but enough for me not to be able to see the start menu, nor can i see the first column of installed programs/shortcuts on my desktop.

 

I can't seem to fathom this out for the life of me? Is it something really simple?

 

Please help as i would love to play my games on my telly on HD instead of standard VGA or DVI?

Check the TV Picture settings (4:3 16:9........)

 

Thats what i have to do. (mines set to "Just Scan" But thats my Telly)

asabove but on my tv their are options by default it had over an inch of black border round all 4 sides fiddled on the tv and it now fits i cant remember the name of the option but it was somewhere in the settings of the tv itself(sony if it helps)

wait till you have the fun of trying to wire it up all hdmi to amps as well lol

Are using a desktop or a laptop?

Do your graphics drivers allow for an exact match of resolution from the card to the native res of the screen (eg 1366x768 or 1920x1080)?

You generally find that with HDMI connections you may have to use your graphic card 'app' settings to match the screen up exactly. It happends on 1080p TV's connecting with HDMI as well. Use the Catalyst Control Centre GPU Scaling Options (if using ATI) or Nvidias Control Panel (not sure what option in here).

Plug your HDMI cable in and wiggle it about and see if the port is loose? That's what i did and realised that was the fault. (Still need to get round to soldering it back into place)

Yeah i checked the HDMI port and it's fine. IT is on the graphics card. It produces an image just appears to be missing a little bit of the screen is missing. IT's rather annoying

Cheers i'll have a go at that. I had to send back my two previous graphics cards as i kept getting lines on them, and this is the only one which has actually worked for me. NEither of the HDMI ports worked on the old GFX card.

Hmm well it's a Toshiba 40XV551D?

The panel res is 1920x1080 - the graphics drivers should have an option in the control panel to force 1080p mode for the screen, with a compatible refresh rate (may be 60Hz with this unit, can't find the definitive specs).

Thanks to all those people who helped me.

 

This morning i just had a brain wave and noticed that my Nvidia Control Panel had an adjust option, a bit like you get on monitors by pressing the buttons underneath you can change the vertical and horizontal positioning of the screen.

 

So she's all good now, only problem is i'll probably have to keep changing it when i or if i change back to DVI.
