Gilleen Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 I like the looks of this, would require a move down there, and another rebuild sounds fun (Call me sick, but I love a good challenge) Its not on their website yet however, so I cant download the application pack and details for it yet. May give them a ring a little later and see.
kevbaz Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 Just noticed it isnt on the site yet, no doubt it will be soon, feel free to pm me with questions etc (im the senior tech here at marine academy )

mb2k01 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Just noticed it isnt on the site yet, no doubt it will be soon, feel free to pm me with questions etc (im the senior tech here at marine academy ) I'd be interested in knowing more. Hopefully nothing controversial, so might be useful for other viewers to see answers here: How many people are in the current IT support team? Is this role to replace an outgoing Network Manager, or are there more than one focused on different things? Who would be the line manager of the Network Manager? Cheers
kevbaz Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 The IT Support team currently consists of three technicians. There is an outgoing Acting network manager role which this new role replaces. I believe the Network manager will be line managed by the Financial Director, that could change but hes is our line manager currently. Hope that helps
mb2k01 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Does indeed, thanks! I have a few more questions if that is ok... - What is your current set up - Vanilla / RM CCx or something else? - Is the Academy one physical site, or more than one? - What knowledge do the existing team have (honestly?). Would you say you are all able to support the change mentioned in the ad, or do you require training/specialist input to be able to change things on a large scale?
kevbaz Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) We have a Vanilla network, back in the summer we migrated from server 2003 to 2008, were also running ISA 2006 and exchange 2007 The academy is based on one site, a partial rebuild is planned in the summer but plans are yet to be drawn up as funding is yet to be finally agreed. We currently have two level 1 technicans and a level two (me) we have been part of a few large projects and have coped before, we have become a custom to working to tight time frames and are willing to put in the work needed to get things done. To have a NM who can disseminate knowledge and on the job training/advice etc would be great as thats been something thats been missing for a while, no formal training has ever been supplied to us. but thats not to say we dont have skill sets... other info i think that might be of use.. approx 1100 students with 150 staff approx 750 pcs/laptops 50 printers Smartboard/projector in everyclassroom approx 65 Myself and one of the lvl1 techs support 3 primary schools Edited March 14, 2011 by kevbaz
mb2k01 Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Ideal. Thanks for the additional info - all hugely appreciated.
kevbaz Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 No problem, hopefully all the formal info will be available soon, the website is managed offsite by one of our sponsors..
kevbaz Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 The forms are now available on the website
