Went to this on the weekend, was the first time they have performed in the UK, was really impressed!! Nobuo Uematsu was also there and was onstage at the end for the final track of the night, have got to give a lot of credit to The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, they did a stunning job on the all. Personally I thought "memoro de la stono" (from FFXI) and Dancing Mad (from FFVI) were the best two performances of the night. They are doing another one next year which will also be the 25th year of Final Fantasy so they are planning on making it bigger still Did anyone else see this concert also? or anyone going next time? (Gaming section because its Game related music)

Hello, We have a magic triangle setup currently, OSX Leopard desktops (a few snow leopard), OSX Snow Leopard Server, and Server2008R2 AD. User accounts are held in AD, home areas mapped as their home folders for OSX. This was all working very nicely, however it appears Illustrator CS4 has never worked correctly for us in this setup (and its now needed), I am no expert in this application and am really only just getting to grips with the innards of OSX outside of making things work nicely. From observation, when the network user is using Illustrator CS4 their library resides in their home folder that resides on the network drive. The users are unable to "place" jpg and bmp files into their Illustrator documents, pdf files can be placed without issue. Now if I use the flag "force local home" in the directory tool, users can place any files they want and it works as expected, but their home folders no longer map to the network drives. As a fix, Im set all of the macs to make local home areas, and done a little how-to to ensure staff and students save to the correct folders. Anyone else know of this issue, or even how to fix it so it works on a network home location? (only Illustrator has shown any issue) Many thanks in advance

I've started to look at Windows Thin PC here, just as a side project. The feature that is looking interesting at the moment is the "enhanced write filter", its a feature from their embedded versions. While the documentation says office apps and such are not to be installed, I have installed office, added computer to the domain, updated it all and enabled the filter. The end result is a near indestructable netbook for use by people that break the unbreakable in normal conditions. I dont think we will ever move forwards on the idea, it is a nice thing to keep at the side for if something like that is needed in future. (Thinking of "cybercafe" style desktops)

I like the looks of this, would require a move down there, and another rebuild sounds fun (Call me sick, but I love a good challenge) Its not on their website yet however, so I cant download the application pack and details for it yet. May give them a ring a little later and see.

There is an issue I noticed with installing RSAT before updating to SP 1 for making a new image. Sysprep fails out and the image is unusable if the IIS6 componant of RSAT is installed with SP1, no idea why, but after removing that bit (with a new image again) sysprep worked. Not sure why it fails out, or if it is just something that happened to me (a few times :S ), but incase it happens to somewhere else, hope its useful.

If its what I think it is, then its not as simple as it looks. You have added the drivers to image 1 of the boot.wim found on the DVD, this doesnt work because the boom.wim actaully has 2 images inside it, one for DVD installation and a second for WDS/WinPE installations. Try adding the drivers again when you have mounted image 2, as opposed to image 1. (Providing my memory is working today)

Hello, Im attempting to get Promissor to work with our new Windows 7 installation, but, it fails out rather well. The Server bit runs fine, and has tested as working, the XP client works fine, the win 7 client fails out siting "cannot load SitePersistance.dll" "Please contact support". Well, support tells me they dont support anything other than XP at this time, but other centres in the country are working fine with vista and Windows 7, but they cant help Anyone here got Promissor working on win7? (This is my first look at the software as the person that normally deals with this is currently off work)

Thankyou , this has corrected the issue and has been tested 100% now. Downside is the logon time is 62seconds now, but I think we can live with that, its never fast enough for some people anyways. Thankyou again

I've done a good search (or so I think) to see if anyone else has seen this issue, and I've come out empty handed. Anyways, setup Windows 7 with Man profiles for the students to use this september, this will be our first year on Man profiles and should come as a nice supprise to some of them. Their network home drive (N: maps correctly 100% of the time), "Documents" is set to Basic "Redirect to the users home directory". Funny thing is that the documents 1/3 of the time doesnt redirect, but leaves an error message in the event log of: "Folder redirection policy application has been delayed until the next logon because the group policy logon optimization is in effect." Taking a look at microsoft doesnt really show much for that error other than some references to windows XP fast logon which I havent spotted anywhere. But this doesnt effect the roaming profiles of users, they all seem alright (assuming because once its set its set). Anyone got any ideas, or at least seen this before?

We have deployed a few test computers on windows 7 to see how they go. We have one issue that I didnt think would be an issue tho. On XP we have Internet Explorer and Outlook on the top of the start menus, however in windows 7 these need to be pinned. Anyone know how to pin them via a policy or script? As it appears they are assumed not installed because they are not immidiatly there? Any idea please

Hello, I have been attempting to get things working with IIS7 and now IIS7.5 for a while now with WebDav, and haven't really been coming out on top. For drive mappings, we have everything done by group policy preference now. C: Hidden (and D: in some cases). CD-Roms are all set as Z:, and the server doesnt have a CD drive to appear for the users to click. In my test with explorer, all they could see was their N: (Home drive), the libraries were all nice and empty, but I need to see if I can hide them by policy because it would only confuse people if they saw them. (We are still XP everywhere apart from my desktop). Good luck, and keep us posted on how things go

We have an odd setup where we are, with a Forest and 2 sub domains, we are currently running at 2003 level, everything works. Now from my understanding, some features of 2008R2 like direct access and branch cache need us to be running at 2008R2 functionality level. Upgrading the forest and one of the two domains is possible, however the second domain we dont control, they just connect to this one for access and facilities. I have read conflicting answers to this, but if we were to upgrade the forest to 2008R2 level, would this prevent access from any domain that is connected running in an older functionality mode?

I'm playing with RDweb myself at the moment, and after reading your post I've had a go at getting a file manager working. Here is what I found. You can publish explorer.exe and it works, providing you have group policy in place to map home drives and hide all others you do get a working file manager. There is however a downside to this (there always is) The explorer functions in a shell still and you cant drop and drag from the RD explorer to your desktop, you can however "Copy" and "Paste" files, I did this by accident and was quite pleased at it working. The other issue I'm trying to think around, tho depending on how its looked at its not an issue, is what happens when you open a file in the explorer, it opens the application in another RD window (in some cases considerably faster than the desktop version but ). If going across the net or a slow home connection this could prove an issue. I am using Windows 7 Enterprise as my client to test this, I'm not sure how other systems will react.

On there forums there are two ways of getting it working: First is the openGFX project, that way you dont require any of the original files. The other is if you trust the fact that the original is now abandonware, if you do, then its out there and you can get the files you need. (I had the original to take the files off, but the openGFX files make it look very nice) ---- The true are in the game is trains, doing the game with a complete train network, no aircraft Trains also explode better if you mess up your track by mistake.

Running a computer games club at the college I'm at, I was looking at free games, open games, or anything that didnt cost money. So the students could play together nicly (yes, I know Im hopeful) Anyways, I ran across this little gem, something I remember from years ago, its "Transport Tycoon". It appears some nice people have managed to recreate most of it as open source, its even better than the original and its simply fantastic!!! The many hours I lost on the original I appear to be losing again now. OpenTTD Who else remembers this little wonder, and who will now be addicted!

After having a look, (and passing it onto our Mac Techie) we are going to use the remote desktop method, and just output everything as CSV file. It seems the easier method to get them nice and quick. I wonder if it will show what the staff like to tell us? "They are used 100% of the time, we need more"

We have been asked by the head of school to pull out usage reports for our apple computer labs. So they can work out if they are being used effectivly, and if we need more or less. The reports of things like: when they are used, how long for, when they are not used, that kind of thing. I know how to do this kind of thing on our PC network, but for the Apples, I have no idea and I couldnt see any products they give our reports. Any ideas?
