BSF ICT supplier not having contract renewed, Technicians TUPE back to schools? Would like confirmation if possible, but too scared to ask officially!!
Posted (edited)

I can't imagine why they wouldn't have their contract renewed. If this was the original winning bid, it is so un-innovative I struggle to understand how they could have failed to deliver it successfully enough to such that they don't get pretty much automatic renewal.

If true then it's most likely to go back to competitive tender and A N Other plc will take over, unless there are ex-Authority key players 'gone rogue' who've put together an alternative proposal with LA support.

Any TUPEd staff go MIA in the last couple of months?

I should add that I have no idea about what is going on in Bristol, or, these days, even BSF in general. Glad to have left that behind me.

Indeed. "1. If you must rant keep it clean. NO profanity will be tolerated." I'm out of line. Edited by psydii
I was behaving like a petulant child. BSF how I loath thee.

S'pose. it's just a shame we always have to use words that fail to convey the reality of the situation.

I'm pretty sure as a "very senior bod in a very large consultancy firm" you are more than capable of conveying the reality of BSF without swearing. There are many, many discussions, views and opinions on this very forum that do just that!

Kinda surprised at the lack of information regarding this. Does make me wonder if the things being said up here are the full story, though. :/

I think youll find its more of the needing to be careful what you say on a public forum about the managed provider. They have bigger scary layers!! Lets just say its been a interesting experience in Bristol! For both the LEA and managed provider.

Yeah, I was talking more about the publicly available information from the LEA and the company (or lack thereof). I don't expect any of the employees to comment, just as I wouldn't if the situation was similar up here. I take it you're part of one side or the other, given your comment about it being interesting?

As an employee you have to be mindful that the vendor you work for pays your bills.

LA representatives are mindful that they in part created the situation, so are unlikely to go shouting about it.

Schools generally just want it to work, and have to work with the LA and LEP partners day to day, so try to keep any mud slinging behind closed doors.

Then there are the NDA's that those who are in the know would have signed to get 'in the know'. The TUPEd tech staff generally do not 'need to know', and so actually have a pretty similar view as the teachers, thus any posting would be hearsay. When some of the companies involved were chasing £3Bn+ of business, you have to be absolutely sure of your facts before you do anything like criticise them in public. Indeed I suspect EduGeek would cave pretty quickly if a large vendor felt its business was threatened by the content of a post, even if it were true and justified and evidenced.

That said it it would be interesting to hear what was really going on. If I still cared about BSF. Which I don't. So it isn't. Why am I here again?

Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.
