Yes, I'm suffering from a nasty cold and cough, complete with broken glass like throat but there are a few things I feel necessary to point out, to avoid the usual "Oh, it's man flu" commentary from the "Immune systems on steroids" female folk that loiter waiting for the opportunity (Don't say you don't!) ;)

  1. I've been the one getting up ALL week at O'dark thirty to look after a teething boy while my wife gets more sleep.
  2. I've already had tonsillitis and didn't complain about that
  3. Just because of one chromosomal difference I should not immediately classed as a "wimp"

You may now all wish me well in getting better and make offers of shopping runs, whisky laced* hot toddies or back rubs**

*wondering how many of people misread that as lacy and have their mind go off on a completely unwarranted tangent..

**subject to status, gender, cuteness! (Sorry John, that's you out ;))

Still sounds like Man Flu to me mate!

All you needd is 2 weeks off and a nice lass fanning you down whilst you rest on the sofa watching Lord of the Rings or a similar epic!

You obviously don't have children or missed the bit about my son... Getting an hour on sofa to watch anything other than "In the Night Garden" is a luxury in itself, let alone some fanning lass or enough time to watch a whole film!!

I have a 6 year old so have been through all that. The comment was to be take tongue in cheek but abviously you're not in the mood for that so apologies! :)

Ah, so you were fantasising or is that just basic wishful-thinking? ;)

Of course, being ill, I reserve the right to be cranky, unreasonable, etc... Although in fairness I'm just fed up of coughing...

I'm naturally cranky and when I'm ill I'm normal! Or so the wife says!

Ahem: 'fed up WITH' not fed up OF'

:getmecoat:

(I'm working on the basis that the more annoyed you get, the less you will notice your symptoms!!)

Ha ha, I am suprised we haven't had the MAN UP yet...

I was tempted to post a Mr.T image with the "You ain't hurt, yo pathetic!, Argh! If I ever catch you acting like a crazy fool again, you're gonna meet my friend pain!" from the snickers advert.

But then I though people wouldn't get it...

Here we go with the 'Man up' and stop being such a girl!

There's that's going to upset everyone and completely take your mind off being ill.

PS I had tonsilitus over Xmas and was pathetically ill - so virtual sympathies enroute!

That's hormones for you!:D

I have little or no control over what I'm saying or thinking - and I love it!

Is there a site you lot go to that gives you these excuses? I ask because I'm sure my wife used that exact wording just recently... ;)

The trick is to pass it to your office staff so one of them have to take a day off when you come back. Not heard any man flu claims yet from last week. ;)
