rad Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Are you guys just talking about labour or the job itself? It sounds great but it involves travelling, fuel cost, etc. You won't get a job in every house in the street so for 1 hour you won't earn a penny.

plexer Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Good locksmiths are scary want me to break into your house without drilling the lock like some unscrupilous ones no problem Thing is with all trades is that yes there are some rogues out there and it is tricky to pick a good one but if you do then that's fine as if you can't do the job yourself whatever you have to pay the tradesman is fair enough. All our issue was the cisterns were low on water and he had to plunge the man hole drain outside... If only I could charge for a job that much that only took that long... People seem to think IT isn't as important..

Its a long story and will grate with me for a good time....
Rydra Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Why can plumbers/electricians/locksmiths charge that much? Because they don't work the same way as IT techies, and there aren't as many of them. I could insist I'm worth a million pounds a week in my abilities, but there's 1000's of you who are willing to work for less. A (competent) tradesmen can charge largely whatever they please, because nowadays there aren't really enough of them, and the ones who are there all want to charge a lot for their work.
