Please give me your estimates of how much technician time you would allocate to support 6 primary schools with a spread of 270 computers.

I normally work on a 8 pc's to 1 hour per week which works out at about 34 hours per week - on that basis it's almost a full time post.

Comments?

Thanks.

From my own experience it rather depends upon what state the schools ICT systems are in at the moment. If they are all up to date and up and running then I'd agree with witch but if they were anything like my 4 when I started then it would be full time till things are settled and running with just general jobs to preform and single problems/installs.

Our shared tech does 5 schools, and that is at 1/2 per week to each school. He should be with us 2 1/2 days, but with the increased technology in primary schools he seems to be getting dragged longer and harder - poor soul

yes 20 hours per week - but we are getting complaints :(

was just trying to figure out if that was incompetency or a lack of time being the predominant factor....

If all systems are running well and this is pure PC support then 8 PCs per hour sounds not unreasonable. If on the other hand things are running badly and the requirement includes servers at each site as well as infrastructure support then more time will be required - probably pretty much a full time post for the 1st few months at least
