Rydra Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Some expensive re-brandings where the difference was not that nociable [not to me anyway] http://theroxor.com/wp-content/uploads/kfc.jpg Now the real, 24 million pound question is...... Did Rolf Harris model himself on the colonel, or did the colonel model himself on Rolf Harris?
2097 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 i imagine half of the logo changes are todo with a tax writeoff
mjs_mjs Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Money for basically doing nothing - just like estate agents. Can't stand this sort of business but we have to use them. I thought you could buy/sell a house online without the need for an agent these days?
witch Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I thought you could buy/sell a house online without the need for an agent these days? You have always been able to sell without an estate agent. There are some good ones - my sister and I are currently selling our mum's house and they have been great - we only have to sign up with them for a week at a time which doesnt tie us in if we feel they are not doing their job - but so far they have been really helpful and worth their money
6Foot2 Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Waking up an old thread, because Oxford University Press has rebranded (I can't find the cost at the moment) This is the result: I suppose the new logo is suggestive of the Oxford "O" and also of the pages of a book, as they are riffled (looking in line with the spine) 1
6Foot2 Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Link 1: WHSmith quietly changes logo for first time in years – and people are not impressed - Mirror Online Shoppers have been left outraged after some WHSmith stores have quietly changed their logo while others have mocked the new design. A number of stores across the country have dropped the word “Smith” from their branding, changing the name to just “WHS” instead - to the outrage of some shoppers. The new displays have been called "cheap" and a "monstrosity," Kent Live reports, while some people think the WHSmith stores look more like NHS clinics. While the shape of the letters is similar to the NHS at first glance, the shade of blue used was also similar - causing one customer to joke: "WHSmith executive: 'People really like the NHS, so let's just make our logo that?' Others said: "I thought it was a covid vaccination centre" and "WHSmith seem to have accidentally stolen the NHS logo." And a third asked: "Who's rebranding? Smith's or the NHS? Will they text me my results within seven days?" On X, formerly known as Twitter, a commenter said: "The @WHSmith rebrand is the worst thing I have ever seen. WHS? Everyone calls it Smiths"... Dos_Box Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 I was in there two days ago. Can't say I noticed It does look cheap though.
3s-gtech Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Somebody got paid for that. I hope it wasn’t much.

I can’t see them switching to this as WHS means Workplace Heath & Safety.
6Foot2 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I was in there two days ago. Can't say I noticed ... I was in town today - It hasn't reached us yet.
Fazza Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Somebody got paid for that. I hope it wasn’t much. I doubt it, as WHS has been used since at least 2006 in New Zealand and it has been on a lot of their own brand items inside the shop for years in the UK too. I think in New Zealand it's a license deal a bit like you see the Black Horse bank logo on one of NZ's banks (or at least you did when I was there in 2006) which is on license from Lloyds Bank etc.
6Foot2 Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Link: Tate & Lyle's Golden Syrup rebrand drops dead lion - BBC News The image of a dead lion being swarmed by bees is to be dropped from some of Lyle's Golden Syrup packaging. A rebranded image of a lion's head with a single bee will feature on products, including the firm's plastic syrup and dessert bottles. But the classic Lyle's Golden Syrup tin will be excluded from the rebrand, keeping its more than 150-year-old packaging design. The company said it was to refresh its appeal to modern shoppers. The original logo, which includes the biblical quotation "out of the strong came forth sweetness", is the world's oldest unchanged brand packaging, holding a Guinness World Record, having remained nearly identical since 1888, the brand said. Lyle's well-known Victorian-style tins were first introduced by Scottish businessman Abram Lyle more than 150 years ago, the same year as the first electric railway. According to the company's website, Lyle had strong religious views, which is why the logo depicts the story of Samson from the Old Testament, in which Samson killed an attacking lion, and later noticed a swarm of bees had formed a comb of honey in the carcass. He later turned this into a riddle: "Out of the eater came forth meat and out of the strong came forth sweetness." The second half of the quote was used on the original branding of Lyle's Golden Syrup. The rollout of the new packaging design - a golden illustration of a lion's head - will begin this month and continue throughout the year across its full-sized bottles, breakfast bottles, dessert toppings and golden syrup portions, Lyle's Golden Syrup said ... So many on X.COM saying that they were not aware that the lion was dead.
6Foot2 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Link: Here comes Sandisk with a rebrand - The Verge SanDisk is now SANDISK. It’s also now Sandisk. The company is announcing a fresh rebranding this week with a new logo that drops the inter-capped styling it’s generally maintained since 1995 with one that is inspired by “a single point of data” or a “pixel.” In a new video, Sandisk says its “slab serif is back and bolder” and it maintains its open “D” letter, but pairs it with a new “pixel-driven S.” The company says the letters symbolize “the collaboration and partnership required to actualize our purpose and tap into new possibilities.” As noted in a report by Fast Company, the Sandisk rebranding comes ahead of a spinoff from its parent company Western Digital planned for next year (it was originally planned for this year). Western Digital had originally acquired Sandisk back in 2016. Last year, Western Digital was embroiled in controversy surrounding the popular, pricey portable SanDisk Extreme SSD, in which publications reported that the product would wipe owners’ data erroneously. It happened to our supervising producer Vjeran Pavic, and Western Digital refused to answer our questions at the time to explain what was happening. Controversy aside, we’re big fans of “unfinished” logo styles here at The Verge, and it looks like Sandisk did alright with its rebrand. It certainly could do worse -- just look at PayPal, Kia, Paramount. or JaGUar.
dmj Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 To me, it looks like the SanDisk logo has some missing bits. Not very encouraging for data storage. 1 1
