Do You Read Your Licence Agreements?

I must admit I hadn't spotted these entries until I read a post from another forum where I have membership. I went looking and I found these entries:

So make sure that you do not use QuickTime to control life support machines or to aid in the development of nuclear missiles etc.

Ooops, I think I have of breached their conditions

Those are normal get out clauses in US EULA, probably due to the litigation culture over there (eg. having to put 'warning hot' on a coffee cup).

There used to be something similar in the Java disclaimer about not relying on it for weapons control systems.

Thankfully, I don't have a single install of Quicktime on any of our Windows PCs. I'll have to make sure our budding nuclear technicians stick to the Macs for Garageband only.

Some of it is to do with US Export Embargoes. They don't want companies to sell to other countries they don't want to trade with.
