I must admit I hadn't spotted these entries until I read a post from another forum where I have membership. I went looking and I found these entries:

So make sure that you do not use QuickTime to control life support machines or to aid in the development of nuclear missiles etc.

Thankfully, I don't have a single install of Quicktime on any of our Windows PCs. I'll have to make sure our budding nuclear technicians stick to the Macs for Garageband only.

There used to be something similar in the Java disclaimer about not relying on it for weapons control systems.

 

Damn, my plans for world domination via an army of robots armed with laser guns foiled again.

Some of it is to do with US Export Embargoes. They don't want companies to sell to other countries they don't want to trade with.
