As said in the title, nothing geeky here, just wanted to share my good news. Whilst on my christmas holidays I was very proud to become an uncle for the first time! :)

My first concern for now is which football kit will he be donning....

I heard that :D

Congratulations, uncle is a fun role, all of the love from the children without having any of the nappy-changes/teething/midnight feeds/tellings off etc.

Buy him lots of presents and take him places :D

The issue here is he was born in Tameside (close to Manchester) and his Dad is Man U but my sister couldnt give two hoots. By birth both his parents are southerners (london-ish) so as a keen Tottenham fan you can see what i'm thinking. However I do quite like the idea of him supporting Man City, just to add a good bit of family rivalry.

As for seeing him regularly, unfortunately he is a 5 hour drive away :-( ...anyone in the Manchester area need a Data Manager??

Stuff that, go for something different and support Swindon Town! Nothing like supporting a nice league one team to dash a young lad's hopes.

Can you tell my sister that! I've done my fair share of nappies, feeds, etc with my Nephews! Still, all good prep for when our family addition comes along in May

Congrats JPS, it is great fun. bit like being Grandparents (or so I assume) you can have all the fun then give them back when the witching our comes along and with it all the tantrums etc!!

My nephew followed his father and supports Liverpool.

You can imagine the words I got when Liverpool stuffed United a while ago, life being Karma you can guess what I say to them now ;)

A word of warning, don't go too overboard ignoring what the parents say. It's nice to have fun grandparents and fun aunts/uncles who let the kids eat chocolate biscuits for breakfast and watch more TV than they should, but if your sister and her hubby tell the kids one thing, don't ignore it and let the kids be naughty, it undermines the parents and you'll soon see a lot less of the little sproglet :D

If you want him to grow up to be passionate and loyal then it has to be a leeds kit

If you want him to grow up to be a thug and a menace then a millwall kit
