Have just got around to creating a VM in VirtualBox with Win8 on it .... apart from the cool lock screen which I just like looking at and slightly nicer looking Solitaire, where should I start poking around to see what's new?

I like the way seven combines the quicklaunch bar with open windows. I too hate the way xp grouped open windows - but then i hate having more windows open than is necessary. I can put up with the huge square icons but only because I have a large resolution that makes them look the same size as xp's taskbar.

i may have used that one, some of them come with an option to delete the dupe and replace it witha shortcut to the original file.

I've had my wii for years but only got internet in September. bought my little boy a second hand one for Christmas and had to wipe the internal memory too, but its got a parental lock and we don't know the code, gonna have to ring Nintendo soon does anyone know what kind of bandwidth the wii uses?

and firefox nightly bumps itself up to version twelve I got a popup from avg earlier complaining about Firefox ... apparently its memory usage had jumped up to over 350mb! I've always loved it but my love is starting to wane. Opera works fine on my phone but apparently my processor isn't good enough to run firefox mobile ...

Just skip the pointless OMG NEW VERSION and change your update channel to Nightly, I've been on version 10 for weeks now. And I must admit .... I can't see any difference in it from version 5, 6, 7, 8 beta, 9 alpha, and so on....

I like the fact that you don't have to install six million "security updates for Mozilla Firefox", it just updates the core program, so you've got one nice up to date package. Even installing IE8 on a PC here would require an age downloading the updates through Win Update. I could just download the latest Firefox and be done. Although I must admit ... version 7? I've been using version 9 for months

Don't know if this helps but we sent my wife's car in for a full service a little while ago. Hadn't been properly serviced in years, or well looked after. Needed basically the front suspension ripping out and replacing (it's a ten-year old Skoda Fabia), as well as new air filter, coolant/brake fluid/oil change, new tyres, (iincluding balancing etc), the steering wheel was realigned, new brake pads and discs, a bearing in the back wheel - basically everything but the cam belt, as it's a pushrod engine. Cost us about £800 - which doesn't seem too bad, until you realise the car only cost us £750 to buy

I'm sure it's better for you having decent shoes that fit properly, but ... £100 every six months? I'm quite happy with a twenty quid pair of trainers that last me for a year

me, wife, two kids and a dog, and our weekly food shop is £100 a week. pretty much get everything from Asda.

See bugzilla bug 455694. Fixed in the 2011-07-31 builds. The bug is basically: 'make tab drag and drop animation look like chrome and safari.' First logged in 2008 and bumped in 2010. The 2010 bump was 'can we put this in firefox four.'

What gets me is the way they word it - 'some people camcord films in the cinema and pass them off as genuine' ... er I may be mistaken but aren't like 99% of illegal dvds either leaked screeners or DVD rips sent round torrent sites? on the topic of DVDs I hate those whose main menu contains a montage as its background - completely spoiling the film for me before I've had a chance to watch it!

I've been using nightly versions of firefox for as long as I can remember ... been using what will be firefox 8 for the last month or so AT sums it up well: angrytechnician.wordpress.com/2011/06/22/this-is-not-a-major-version-increase/ (I'm Paul in the comments) firefox jumped from 3.6 to 5 in a matter of months. Then it jumped from 7 to 8 overnight. I'm sure there's been a lot of changes under the hood but the only difference I can see between my machine running 8.01 and our training network running 3.6 is the more chrome-like interface - the ability to move tabs on top and condense the menu bar into a button.

just to throw some more info in, I have two kids. Only one of them is mine. When it was a single parent family my boy was brought up beautifully by his mum. When I joined the picture he continued to act wonderfully. When his sister came along he acted out a bit, as you would expect, as he was an only child for five years. However we as parents nipped it and told him what was right and what was wrong and he was punished if he did something wrong intentionally. He is now a wonderful big brother who loves school and always wants to help people. His sister has recently been two and is now starting to be naughty. I'm going to do the same with her. My point is, if you bring your children up properly then I don't see how they can turn out like this. I know its hard but I like to think my kids will keep talking to me if they have problems when they're older.

I know its good that they're trying to prosecute them now but how many positive ids do you think they'll get? I'm sure at least 75% of them were wearing hoodies, tracksuit bottoms and trainers. That's not exactly a unique description

warning: broad sweeping generalizations will follow. i think anybody involved in this riot should just be shot with a taser, dragged to the police station and unceremoniously chucked in the cells. I'm not going to apologize for my opinion. There is no reason for anybody to be involved other than pure criminal activity. 99% of the rioters don't know or care about the cause. The police should just knock these twunts down and cuff them. They shouldn't have any rights, they shouldn't be able to hide behind 'wrong place wrong time' crap. I blame parents. If parents brought their kids up properly they wouldn't even dream of rioting. If you're a parent of someone who is out at night during these riots then you clearly know they are involved. I am a parent and would not let my children out at night. This is going to cost thousands to put right and you can guarantee that none of the morons involved are going to be charged for the damage.

I broke my keyboard after losing one race too many times in Most Wanted. However I love the puzzle and exploration aspect of games like GTA and playing through the stories of first person shooters. Does TF2 count as a violent game? Cos its bloody funny and doesn't make me violent, it makes me happy

i get angrier playing racing games. It's fun to run around blowing stuff up
