This guy has decided to live like its 1998

 

Nokia 6210 and everything!

 

Whats really interesting are the letters sent in by people to the 1998 version of themselves.

Ah i remember, my dad had one. They used to fit in the car hands free kit. I think the 6210 also fit in there.

when was the phillips c12 released? my first mobile phone and i remember it being towards the end of high school when every kid parted with their £50 pocket money to get one and begin the texting revolution

or even better, there was a pager phase (yes pager!) just before the c12...i think they were called "Zap" or something, in a nice shiney metallic blue, i got mine from argos, anyone remember those? defo around 98 time

It's a shame Sony took so long to release Hi-MD MiniDisc's because they were actually quite good - you could use them for data and record audio losslessly. Saying that though, the 2nd Gen iPod was much cooler.

the C12 that became the "Savvy"? Still got one. Works, too!

 

I had a Philips Diga before that..the Savvy had a vibrate feature though. Better for here.

The Savvy had voice dial, which was a good pub game. Then came my 3210 (still have it), a 3310 (got 2), My 7650 Symbian (still got), MPX200 with WM5 (Still got), Ipaq 512 (still got), and now my Ericsson K800i (favourite so far)

I had a C12 as my first mobile when I started commuting to London. It was a good phone (and I liked the Sonar ringtone too) until I left it on the train one morning

I remember my first decent colour screened phone, my awesome 6230...which I lost in the town one night on account of getting drunk. The phone before that wasn't bad either, my Nokia 3100.

 

The first mobile I ever owned was a Bosch 503e. Yeah, got beaten upon the school field and as soon as I'd sat up and noticed my nose bleeding, immediately checked my pocket to make sure it was still there. After that I got Trium Mars,which due to having mobile internet was the first mobile I got explicit materials on.

Not 100% sure of the year, but it must have been around 1998. My first mobile was a Motorola Micro Tac GSM...RETROBRICK - the home of vintage and rare mobile phones

 

Hand me down form me Dad. I had a T-Mobile PAYG sim. The first PAYG sim as I recall - £50 per month! I'm now paying £50 per month for my iPhone contract so times haven't really changed all that much (other than I can actually afford it now).

I didn't have a mobile in 1998.

• The first phone I had was a nokia 3510i Nokia 3510i - Full phone specifications
  
• The 2nd phone I had was a orange spv c500, a rebranded HTC Typhoon
  
• The 3rd Phone i had was a I-mate SP5, a rebranded HTC Tornado Noble i-mate SP5 - Full phone specifications
  
• The 4th Phone I had was an I-mate SPL, i-mate SPL - Full phone specifications had a well dodgy non-standard install of wm6 on, didn't last long.
  

 

The 5th Phones I have are

Benq E72 BenQ E72 - Full phone specifications Great wm6 phone and looks good too.

+ a nokia e65 to play with symbian Nokia E65 - Full phone specifications 1st gen slider phone so was dead cheap on ebay

 

The 6th Phone I have is a blackberry curve from work.

 

 

How have I had all these strange phones?...between browsing on GSMArena.com - GSM phone reviews, news, opinions, votes, manuals and more... and ebay. Secondhand odd phones are cheap plus I preferred the customisability of windows mobile. Although I'm quite liking blackberry OS now...

yeah i think you are right it became the Savvy! funny to think that USP of phones back then would be "Vibrate Alerts"

haha i remember now, class. wish i still had the thing, no idea what became of it.
