Printing Management Software

Can anyone please advise on software to run to allow me to get better control of who can print where and the quantity of prints that they can do? Currently all run from the print manager, was wondering if there was any suggestions for 3rd party software.

I use Print Manager Plus and it works well for us, the staff don't like it though but we just cannot carry on funding over £4K of printing a year, they don't get free photocopying so why should they get free printing?

Were having SafeCom installed tomorrow, then rolling out the new MFP printers next week, using a follow me type printing.

Size of school to quantify it = 480 students about 70 staff including catering, TAs, teachers, admin and support etc

1200 students here. We blow that out of the water in comparison. It wouldnt take us long at all to get that.

I think its the same as Papercut but rebranded.

5.5k student budget - 950 students.

we were using around 18k+ per annum on consumables add that on top of replacing old kit!

Printing costs here are down to £3.5k in the IT suites and the printers in the rest of the subject rooms are controlled by their own budget restraints which they have to manage themselves but have to go through IT support for ordering.

 

This is down from initial costs of nearly 15k when I first started.

 

Good old RM print management tool works very well setting quotas which SLT have backed and the teachers have to adhere to.

Will be looking at some other print management tool which will allow reporting to target those teachers and staff that print non school related documents without permission from SLT.

 

Trying to utilise our student viewer program set that allows the teachers access to student work for reading purposes so students don't have to print out their work all the time for the teachers to take home for marking (Total waste).

Pykota is a tool to do that I believe, Ric_ is a guru on all things cheap / free, Nix based and Printing There is something in the Edugeek Wiki about it
