i thourght i would start a thread to see what bands or artists people on here think are the best live in concert

 

i have been to a few Creamfields going back 5 years now lol

Faithless i have seen these twice and again am seeing them in december

Chemical Brothers these were amazing

Calvin Harris- was ok

Erasure - dont laugh lol they are kool

usher im off to see in feb front row seats

pink -amazing

 

 

i have to say my best has been faithless they are amazing live and the atmosphere there you just can beat!!

Back in 1964 (may have been 65) my mate and I cycled to Longleat to see the Stones. We got there a day early and were right at the fence at the front. As the crowd picked up we were getting pushed into the fence and the security guys were concerened for our safety, so we were lifted over the fence and we sat on the ballustrade on the right.

 

 

 

There were some girls along side us and Jagger serenaded them. Trouble was, the sound system was beaming the vocals out and we couldn't hear very well because of the audience noise.

 

That concert just had the edge on a Faces one at Colston Hall in Bristol, when Stevie Marriott got into a fight with a bouncer, the audience got involved and they turned the sprinklers on. It was winter and we all went home soaked to the skin.

I saw Radiohead in Oxford at South Park.

 

You'll expect it to be quite sombre and serious (especially since they'd just released Kid A). Nothing of the sort, Thom Yorke was hilarious.

 

Also helped they had a great bunch of support acts, bouncing up and down to Supergrass with 10,000 other people was wonderful.

 

EDIT: Also two encores. The first was three songs finishing with Paranoid Android. As he started singing what we thought was would be last verse of the last song of the night the heavens opened. To make it even more apt the words he was singing at the time were "Rain down on me from a great height".

 

Now depite the fact the audience were rapidly going from slightly damp to positively soggy he came back on and sung Creep.

Bands I've seen and really enjoyed include Muse, Foo Fighters, Iron maiden, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Placebo and Rage against the Machine. Its too difficult to set them apart from each other, as they're all damn good.

 

Bands I saw that I was un-impressed with include Guns 'N Roses and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

 

I'm quite easy to please when it comes to gigs, and I've been to a lot! Don't goto as many now as I can't afford to since buying a house.

Saw Greenday at MK Bowl in 2003 - that was pretty awsome

Saw Take That at the Ricoh in Coventry Last year - quite possibly the best show I have seen

Saw The Prodigy at the NIA 2 years ago and they were amazing (and very very loud) too

They headlined Isle of Wight in 2005 - Was there at the front of the stage, Awesome night. With Snow Patrol, Embrassed and Stair Sailor

 

If I could go back to any time or place, 1 would be Queen at Wembley (I think 1991?)

 

I'm sure the one you are thinking off is the 1986 concert, I believe that was their last live show at Wembley. Got it on DVD - I too wish I could have been there.

 

 

I've been to 22 concerts now over the past 5 year with my 23rd in December - Lightening Seeds + Squeeze at the UEA. Seen Squeeze at the UEA before and am really looking forward to seeing them again.

 

Highlights so far have been...

 

Levellers @ UEA in 2008 (I think)

Liam Finn @ Bush Hall in London last year <- you really need to see this guy live the stage presence and energy is amazing

R.E.M. @ Twickenham in 2007 (again, I think - might have been 2008?) - Last of three R.E.M. concerts and their best, they were on fire that night!

Bon Jovi @ Twickenham - same year as R.E.M. - Blew me away, was not a big Bon Jovi fan before that one.

Went to Nickelback last year. How they played with those flame throwers on stage I'll never know, I could feel the heat towards the back of the arena.

 

I'm sure there's others I could name but they have been the best so far. I should give a worthy mention to my last concert - Paul Heaton - playing is new material in small venues, Saw him at the Glee Club in Birmingham. Again very very good night.

 

My ambition for next year is to see both Crowded House and R.E.M. again. Preferably not in England. I'm thinking Dublin and Amsterdam as both are easy flights from Norwich...

Faithless at the CIA were amazing - To All New Arrivals tour in 2007. The live percussion was something else. Calvin Harris was there, seriously frosty reception to the berk.

Saw REM on the Accelerate tour in 2008, very good too.

Mine too, and a bit pointless after the awesome show last year couldn't be beaten!

I think you are right, all I know is I was very young then, but have a love for them since growing up!

More recently I've been working the festivals... so I've been able to watch some great bands from the side of stage, which adds to the excitement a little.

I went to Live8, that was incredible.

Lynnrd Skynnrd were amazing (albeit the new Skynnrd, unfortunately old Skynnrd died long before I was born!)

Velvet Revolver were awesome

Paul Weller is always great to watch

Aynsley Lister is fantastic live

Foo Fighters are definitely one of the best live bands

QOTSA - Liverpool academy+ Reading...best band in the world.

RATM - Reading t'other year...any fans will know why this was ace
